It is better to visit the extreme northern states or North-East, because the central mainland is very hot now. Winter or the coming monsoon season should ease the heat, but we are yet to see. Also, better to get the help of locals to guide you as they will be able to give you useful information. Basic Hindi and/or English should be fine for communication.

I think spiritual wisdom happens in EVERY civilisation. India and China are two such places. Usually when a civilization is invaded it loses its past heritage and gets converted into its invaders. Look how some people converted to British ways due to colonisation. Like how a great Persian civilisation became Iran, and lost everything when Arabs converted them, or Egypt was a pyramid building civilization but they were invaded too, and now both countries don't even care about anything in their history beyond the last 1400 years.
