Cleaning up the Annex.
Over the winter I kept working on the shelving and moving things into the shop. I also worked on wiring the lights, door opener, outlets and other items.
That meant having various and sundry items stacked in temporary storage.
I intend to have the rest of the equipment moved to the Annex and available for use.
So I spent the day disassembling and sorting pallet wood into usable or scrap wood.
Thanks for watching.😁😎

@@OldSneelock 'Tis! That''s why I had a 'grabber' to pick up pine cones. No bending and a 5-gallon bucket worked fine to tote with.

@@lewiemcneely9143I was using the grabber a lot doing the pinecones. Now my wrist is aching after just a few minutes. Just like Grampa Snyder said, "Don't get old." 😣

I dare say that we both have been searching for better ways to do what we already did all our lives. Keeps it interesting. Toots is home and the rain is slowing down. Supposed to be clear tomorrow and V.A. is the next day and next friday. They're playing catch up. God Bless!

The racking shelves is one of the biggest pallet board projects I have attempted. There was a time before Potato Joe when I would have just bought 1x6 and been done with it. Now I can't see spending that much money on wood when it costs $40.00 to put 10 gallons of gas in the truck. Just spent $645.00 on new springs and shocks for the car.

@@OldSneelock If you've already got it there's no reason to buy more. I built a barn in Cherukee County with 2nd hand chicken house boards. Scraped the poop and crud off and put them together. They were free which is a good price and close.

I have a metal detector wand so I can save my planer blades, seems to work quite well for an inexpensive thing.

Everyone should be in the mindset of self improvement for most tasks. It's more than age or ability it's good for the mind. At work I don't mindlessly do a task without trying to improve it as long as it warrants it by saving time or in the future how I could do it better. De nailing things is the bane of my existence that's why I use the air locker one of the only air tools I own (plus it's fun 👍). Consider carring around a strong telescoping magnetic pickup tool makes you bend over way less. Keep up the good work 👏

Too much sitdown over the winter and not enough work. Sometimes I think we just get a slightly different perspective on things and the angel on our shoulder whispers, "Why don't you try...." One of the things I did as a Process Engineer was look at situations to see if there is a better way. Thanks for mentioning the air locker. A tool I had never heard of. Looks like a lot easier way to knock out the nails. If it just gets the heads up to the point where they grip in a crow bar that would be a huge improvement. I have several magnetic pickup wands scattered around the shop and in my tool belt. Sometimes I just forget that it is going to hurt later and bend down and grab something. 😀😎💩

How's she goin'? I got a bunch of pallets one time and figured I could make good use of the wood. But what a job it was trying to break down the pallets. It's a hard job, but you got this done. Way to go!! Take 'er easy!!

The pallets are the big ones the steel for the building came on. I still have one to do. For the next one I will set up the saw horses. Just want to see if I can make it work. Fun times in the workshop. Matt just told me about a denailing tool called and air locker. See his comment above. I had never heard of one. So I looked one up. That would be handy if I was to get into the pallet repair business. Not that I want to. Lots of work just moving them. Let alone storing a few thousand pallets waiting for someone to pay for the work. 😀😎
