Andy, the gates look fantastic. The wood enters a new phase of its existence rather than becoming landfill. Brilliant !.

Hi Tony! Thank you so much for your great comments, they are appreciated as always. I am working on a pallet wood hen house at the moment for a friend. It is for free-range hens but is a secure home needed if and when the keeper is out for the day(s) as there has been trouble with feral dogs. After that I am moving on to making big pieces of pallet wood furniture including a kitchen dresser and sofa. I have been collecting suitable wood for over a year now and finally believe I have enough to complete the projects! All the very best for the New Year and thanks again for watching and commenting, Andy

Yes brilliant video, but agree with other viewers, just not detailed enough for someone like me a total beginner, would love to see a better described video of making gates in complete detail, skipped over the important bits unfortunately but love your ideas 😅

Hi John, I understand your point, that was why I included the link beneath the video to my written article which goes into more detail and raison d'etre. What the film is for is to illustrate what can be achieved with recuperated pallet wood. I would hope this would encourage folks to see the wonderful 'free' resource which is normally overlooked. Nevertheless, to take on a project like this does require some skill as well as access to a range of tools. I believe on my site you'll find projects suitable for different levels of expertise and most, if not all, have an accompanying written article. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Andy.

Great video... the gates look brilliant. Great to have your regular music back on this one... really missed it on the last video. Will be definitely making the plank clamping system you made, for a project we're doing with pallet wood too. Hope you are all keeping well.

Hi there folks! Thanks for your comments - they are appreciated. I found the clamp works really well, there is a written version too on The Green lever Blog. The birds aren't too happy about the weather but they just got two boxes of unsold bread and biscuits from the local organic shop - so have cheered up no end! Take care, keep warm and have a great Christmas, Andy

Have to agree it's a lovely simple gate but wished he could have gone into more detail, wouldn't feel confident of making similar but would love to be able 😅

Now that is what I call old school.

Hi, and thanks for the compliment. In this area most gates are now of plastic ( as well as double glazed window frames and doors). The gates I replaced were plastic and had not aged gracefully plus once these type of gates get cracked or broken they are almost impossible to repair, unlike 'old school' wood. Many thanks for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it. Best Wishes from Normandie, Andy.

Great video and a great job... Only thing is I would kill off the background music as it's distracting. Great work mate
