Pallet Wood Wastebasket Cabinet 2 *Free plans*

Had to narrate this one. In this video I cover the final cutting and assembly of the wastebasket cabinet. I used pocket holes because they are easy and sturdy enough for this application. To further strengthen the cabinet, I added a back to keep it from racking. I struggled a bit with the part that hods the trash can, and have since changed the design. Sketchup plans are located here:

Thanks for the upload. We have a small tapered space at the back of the kitchen door into which I plan on fitting something similar but to hold 3 bins for different recycling and this is the best video I have seen on how to help me design and build it. Thanks c

looks great but the can looks like it want come out. you could have used a chain to hold can from coming out and then you can pull the can out to clean

I liked your videos, I am getting ready to build one for my daughter and her new home. I never did see where I could link up to get your drawings and I do have one question. can you remove the trash can once completed for clean up purposes. with 2 children running around I'm sure there will be some clean up from time to time. Does the can slide out for east emptying? Or changing the garbage bag?

The can slides out of the top. Probably to do it when it is empty lol

@@SouthpawWorkshop .. just looking at it, it looked like the top may hit and hold it from opening far enough to slide out. . . . But that's not stopping me from figuring out how to built it. I'm in the process of remodeling my kitchen, my back splash and toppers for my cabinets are bead board, so your project really caught my attention. Also, I removed a double oven and made a shelf for our microwave oven on top, the bottom section I made 3 large drawers, and making the door out of bead board. . . . . I must hurry, my wife has dementia and always wanted the kitchen refinished, I will make sure see has it while she can enjoy it. . . . . Thanks for sharing your projects.

I don't understand why people cut the corners with a chisel, when they can just round the inserted panel.

There is a saying, “6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other”. I prefer to chisel my corners because I think it makes the panel look nicer when open.
