Uh no, actaully there's plenty of other games that have various canine shaped creatures that don't look identical to each other, even other Pokemon-like games have actually managed to make unique deisgns. You realize that DOTA started *as* a Warcraft III mod right? They already ARE straight up Warcraft characters. Only reason Blizzard can't do anything is because of a grandfather clause that whatever people make with the map editor and modding can't be used by Blizzard for financial gain. They explicitly took that out of the re-release of Warcraft III Reforged so they wouldn't have another DOTA scenario rise up on them. You are very wrong. Looking similar is not a crime. But using assest, aka copyrighted intellectual property IS. If Palworld used the models from Pokémon, they are liable and will be charged. Someone took all the Pokémon designs and ask AI to randomly create new creatures from them. Palworld is familiar because much of their pals are a mixture of bits and pieces of different Pokémon’s together. It isn’t one-to-one comparison. Take Pikachu and mix it with Electivire and you get that gigantic angry yellow Pal. The legal problem is for TPG to figure out which bits and pieces come from which Pokémons and whether taking 5% of 20 different Pokémon’s to make one Pal constitute a legal infringement. That, and Palworld being a literal mix of Fortnite, Ark, Pokémon and other popular games. That’s why it’s popular because it’s different but it’s VERY familiar.

The guy who did the comparison was suspicious from the word go. His account was created at the start of the month, and *only* posted vague assertions using terms like "I feel" and "it seems", as if he's trying to stay on the side of plausible deniability if his allegations are disproven, or if the general public sides against him. And then there's the part where he failed to disclose any and all alterations made to the models until *after* his comparisosns gained traction, which regardless of how Scaling may or may not affect the model, opens the door to the possibility he may have changed more than what people could see without disclosure, making his evidence suspect at best, and inadmissible at worst.

Gamefreak is creatively bankrupt. Surprised that they didn't sue themselves for copy pasting the same game 20 times.
