Remember, Pam is literally the only person in the office who has tried to set Michael up with someone they know, and he treated her like garbage. Michael is capable of being loving...capable. He also tried to grope her at the start of the episode. She's making taking it out in an unconstructive way, but she's not overreacting haha.

An overreaction if it were a normal person, maybe. An appropriate reaction if it’s Michael AND he’s your boss AND he did it at your wedding AND your mom is only recently divorced AND he told your husband first AND you’ve got pregnancy hormones AND again, it’s Michael. Imagine your insane boss who has repeatedly tried physically coming onto you throughout the years and made numerous verbal passes at you suddenly sleeping with your mom…she should’ve gone harder in my opinion. Especially considering her mom knew all of this due to her complaining. Also, dating a friend/coworker’s mom is just bad form.

@@vrroomm if? these are all things that happen in the series - if you have a different opinion that’s your prerogative, but these were all scenes in episodes. there’s also a huge difference between you having a complicated relationship with someone (michael being that person, sometimes funny and friendly and sometimes a petulant pain in the ass), and having them in your family/personal life. it feels like a betrayal of trust from him and her mom. even if she did overreact in your eyes, it’s understandable. it’s hard to sit and process that at work and formulate a mature response; id probably flip out too lol

From Pam's point of view, Michael is the annoying boss who constantly puts her in uncomfortable situations and makes terrible decisions. Pam doesn't fully hate Michael, but there's all those times that he's upset her. Like when he fake fired her, all the jokes he makes about her breasts. The time when Micheal had a beach day and made Pam take notes the whole time. The time he said that her glasses make her look ugly. The time when he tried to kiss her after he failed to propose to Carol. The time when he tried to go back on his promise to buy the office new chairs. Pam also has a lot of nice wholesome moments with Michael, it's a complicated relationship, but she does have issues with him. Pam confides by venting to her mom the frustrations regarding her boss, and then the mom sleeps with him. It does feel like kind of a betrayal since Pam found comfort in knowing that her mom is on her side when she vents about her boss.

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy. I know Jim's not your favorite character but lots of women would kill to have a husband like that. His being solicitous to Pam - in this specific instance- is emotionally smart. Taking a hard-line with her would only piss her off more. Also, we've seen time and again that she matters more to him than literally anything, so it's in character. Happy wife, happy life!

Oooh boy im gonna have to wait to give my full thoughts on this situation but im gonna have to be on team Pam on this one. Yes,michael And Helene are consenting Adults but Michael is Pam's boss and hes crossed a few boundaries with her before. Hes tried to kiss her numerous times and he did flash her once but besides that Michael's whole speech about "what is wrong with me?" Is kinda the point. Sleeping with Pam's Mom isnt about making HER LIFE better or making her HAPPY,its about Michael just not wanting to be alone after losing Holly. Its about Michael and his feelings and this whole situation will reveal that. He literally said this episode "i just thought you wanted ME to be happy" BRUH..... Pams reply is spot on with my feelings "I could give a shit about your happiness! Stop dating my mother!!" Everything about this act is disrespectful and i do not fucking care what Position Michael is in,if he literally got off the phone with my mom and tried to use both his position as a manager and as my Moms "LOVER,NOT HER BOYFRIEND "to try to tell me what to do at work thats major Incident waiting to happen.

HR should've had more to say about this. Dating Pam's mom is one thing, discussing sleeping with your subordinate's mother at work is completely inappropriate, whether it happened or not! And the way he talked to Pam like a child was unacceptable. Toby should've been involved from the start and explained to Michael that a supervisor making innuendos about a subordinate's mom is sexual harassment and creates a hostile work environment. Then, Toby should've called up to a superior because Michael will definitely not listen to Toby. Aside from the ethical and possible legal issues with dating and employee's mom, it says a lot about how Michael feels about Pam and Jim that he's willing to throw those relationships away so easily. He literally said he's dating her because it's convenient for his commute. I wouldn't want to upset 2 close friends this way for my own convenience.
