Hello Pam, I have never painted any furniture before ,but i want to redo an old piece i have. It is painted with chalk paint and i want. to repaint it with semigloss but I don't want to ruin it can I do this. Can you tell me what i need to do before I start thank you very much Linda Jackson

@@lindajackson8068 I don't usually use semi gloss because most requires sanding and priming. If you're applying over chalk paint, you might be ok. I'm sorry I don't use semi gloss so I can't be sure

It will work. If you use Chalk type paint, you won't even need a topcoat. It weathers beautifully

I absolutely love this and want to do this on my wooden kitchen countertops. My question is if I use a water based polycrylic as a sealer, will it cause yellowing? Would I still use the wax? I need a water resistant finish. Many thanks!

Transparent latex paint mixed with a bit of dark colorant also creates a perfect gel "stain".

I'm not sure. If it's a cradle, it should be fine, but if it's something where a child might chew on the side rail, then I might not. I always err on the side of caution
