Aurelian! At last! One of the best Emperors working in one of the most crucial moments for the Empire.
@MarcusAgrippa073 жыл бұрын
Maximinus Thrax (correct name) was the first of the "Soldier Emperors": a gigantic (above 2 m tall), brute military, from barbarian family. His strong, huge face does justice to historical accounts.

Emperor Aurelian....a wise man retreating from Dacia in 275...south of Danube...still not enough to stop the rapid decline of the Empire....an Empire with sand legs...
@jonathancummings64003 жыл бұрын
Aurelian is Rome's self destruction at it's most disastrous, he was a very great Emperor in potential, in some ways SUPERIOR to Diocletian. So when he was killed, Rome lost a major asset.
@RexGalilae2 жыл бұрын
The History of Rome podcast put it best, "When it comes to cumulative career value, long reigning emperors like Trajan, Hadrian, Diocletian and Augustus are the obvious choices but when it comes to peak value, boy is Aurelian peak value exemplified!" He didn't live long enough to make the same level of impact as emperors who ruled for >=20 years but what he achieved in those 5 years were out of this world
@jonathancummings64002 жыл бұрын
@@RexGalilae One wonders how history would have differed if he had ruled more than ten years? What would he have accomplished with 5+ more years? Surely impressive achievements.
