Wow, thanks for the support, i am always glad to know my viewers like what i do and i am also always open to suggestions. Yeah, i also hope they will maintain the retro feeling of the main building too, the water crane etc.

What the the station needed was not several new usused platforms but a much improved system of signs to tell you which trains were going where. I usually had to rely on asking locals to make sure i caught the right train as timings on Greek railways are very approximate. There simply isn't the traffic to justify more platforms.

Signs and telematics are being improved as we speak. There definitely was a need for more platforms based on projected increase in demand and more routes to come, such as the line to Aigio and Patras. The main building is in immediate need of expansion and refurbishment and i think this will be done too.

Agree absolutely on main building. Every time I have bought a ticket, there has been a queue for just one office open. Ticket machines would be a help as in most of the rest of Europe; perhaps they have them by now. I haven't been to Greece since Covid started.@@Trainsforlife89

This is Athens station, also known as ''Larisis station''. The nickname remained as in 1904, when the station opened, the railway only went as far as Larisa city, in central Greece...

δεν καταλαβαινεις αγγλικα; δεν καταργειται αλλα κλεινει προσωρινα για να ανακαινιστει, μεχρι τοτε θα λειτουργουν οι νεες πλατφορμες παραπερα που ειναι ηδη εξηλεκτρισμενες

Δειλά δειλά έχουν ξεκινήσει τα έργα για την ολική ανακατασκευή της πλευράς αυτής του σταθμού...ελπίζω ότι το αποτέλεσμα θα είναι καλαίσθητο και πως δεν θα σταματήσουν και αυτά τα έργα.

True. We have to consider that it was built back in 1904, when Athens was a city with a population of under a million. Now, it features over 4 million so the station couldn't come meet the increased demand in passenger traffic. This is why it's being rebuilt now. Thanks for watching!

@@Trainsforlife89 the carriages look outdated with graffiti Stadler trains for some reason look abit beat up. Video made in 017, hopefully they bought new rolling stock

Oh, i see. Well, no need for new stock. GTW 2/6 trains were made in 2003 and the Siemens Viaggio Classic cars in 2004. Fortunately a vast cleaning effort took place and all rolling stock is clean and graffiti - free now.

Buna! Ceea ce vedeți aici este ultima zi a stației din Atena în vechea sa formă. O nouă aripă cu trenuri electrice și diesel a fost deschisă a doua zi.
