Hahaha. Just wait a moment. I live in Panama for 5 years now. I am originally from Germany. You have “white” Panamanians who don’t like “darker” Panamanians. Example number 2: I live in Nueva Gorgona. In my street, at the beginning do live the “white” Panamanian neighbors. In the middle the more “darker” neighbors. In the end - you get it - living the black neighbors. So when I looked for a place to rent, I compared what I get for the money. So we agreed to rent the house in Nueva Gorgona. I had to put in some elbow grease to fix and paint. But I only pay $350 for a 2 bedroom house. The 1st 12 months was only $250 a month. The owner didn’t had money to fix the house. So I paid for it and the owner reduced the rent by $100 a month to pay me back. So anyway. Couple months later, I am sitting together with my neighbors around my house. After a couple beers, one of my neighbors asked: Aren’t you are not too “white” for this area? 😂 - This video is a couple months old. And the BROOKS are newcomers. You hear that even with the driving. Panamanians do NOT drive defensively. They drive aggressively! Stopping on a crosswalk? If you walk, you better watch out! They do NOT STOP free will. On the other hand, they really really slow down before they turn off a street. I’m driving since I arrived 5 years ago. - After 14 years going in Canada through winters with minus 30 to lower than minus 41 degrees Celsius, I really like to sweat! Believe me! I do not have an air conditioning in my house. A fan is just fine. Panamanians ask me sometimes: Are you not sweating? I just answer: No señior. I am dripping! 😂
@user-vz3fh6oj7d6 ай бұрын
First off: do you speak, understand, read Spanish fluently? Do you understand the culture? Five years is not enough to fully understand the culture. Second: there is no outcasting in Panama because of your skin tone. In fact, most Panamanians are of a darker complexion with a minority being lighter (foreigners like Venezuelans/Colombians don't count). LThe main problem is classism. There are plenty of rich people who are darker complected; the mestizos. Whatever skin tone outcasting (can't use the actual wording due to YT's censuring), exists, it is not as egregious as it is in the U.S. Facts!
@holgermessner8516 ай бұрын
@@user-vz3fh6oj7d You don’t live in a “normal street “ outside of Panama City. I do. And yes. All streets outside of Panama are like the streets I live in. If you don’t live in a gated community. Playa Uverito the same. David the same. I do not have to speak Spanish fluently to see how people live. Nobody has. And you know perfectly well that the darker community in Panama lives in very poor conditions. You don’t agree? Then you know nothing about Panama. Listen. I don’t write anything I didn’t experienced in Panama. There are many singles in Panama. I did speak with “white” Panamanian women. And if you are not interested in a relationship because you don’t know if you stay, you are thinking about guys who are looking for a relationship. So I showed pictures of my buddies who were “available “. BLACK?! No way. I DON’T MIX! - Yes. I had Panamanian female friends who did sit beside me and tried to explain that not all women were like her. But it exists. And in 5 years, I did hear that many times. So please. Don’t tell Westerners that racism doesn’t exist in Panama. If you are Panamanian - you don’t know your own country!

I was in Panama in 2022 for 11 days and sightseeing and just was so amazed that I came back on a tour the following year in 2023 through a tour assistant organization. Visited a different Townsend cities to get a feel for where I would like to land, preferably as a snowbird, I think for starters and ultimately moving to Panama. Everything Glenn and Sherrie just showed you and said it’s absolutely the God-given truth about the country the food, the people, the quality of life, and your spirit being released to freedom to be yourself. so if you haven’t visited, you need to put that on your bucket list. There’s a black expert organization there and blacks are coming and gross to make Panama their home. I’m on my way. I have the legal advice that I need the real estate advice that I need which was all part of the package I just need to put things into motion now For this coming winter months. Lainey

Thank you both for doing this! It is so important for other Black travelers to share about their experiences abroad and we don't travel everywhere so it's not easy content to come across.

Can you link me some information in regards to Veterans? Ohh and my Wife and I were really close to where you were when you filmed this in 2015 as we visited and toured the Panama Canal. We are currently putting a plan together now to relocate with our children to Panama in 2025/2026.

Wait, y'all from Baltimore? So am I....still here🙃 Look, Belair Mkt (Old Town Mall) had whole hog heads back in the day...sitting unwrapped on the shelf....not even under the glass, refrigerated display case.

The don't stop thing reminds me of when I was driving in Cancun, Mexico. I stopped at a STOP sign and almost got rear-ended! The guy behind me assumed I'd not stop. The thing about no addresses explains why I could not get a complete address for my upcoming hotel! It kept popping up as vague coordinates or intersections. I'm laughing so hard about the nonstop partying. LOL

@@TheCeeCeeH we don’t have dogs so to be honest I don’t know what the guidelines are but what I will say is Panama is super pet friendly. Do your research and make it happen it’s definitely worth it.
