You definitely want the DCR Lens as close to the projector lens as possible.

Yeah, I will 100% go back and experiment doing that. That a reason I love sharing on KZbin. It's such a great opportunity to discuss and share, but also puzzle through things and learn at the same time. If moving the lens back mitigates all or even some of the barrel distortion, that's a huge win!

@@Techthusiasm I agree! I have the DCR lens you have and I am at 14 ft throw distance. I have barrel distortion but I overscan just a bit and I don’t notice it with content. I am sure the new Alpha would be better for my NZ8 but the hassle of selling the DCR and spending an extra 5k for the Alpha doesn’t make much sense. Also the owner of Lumagen (I have the Radiance Pro) disagrees with Madvr’s barrel distortion correction. I can’t be too specific but he says it does more harm to the video than good. He’s mentioned this on AVSforum.
