I've often been a fan of Panasonic's cameras. They're versatile, simple to use and pretty darn rugged. I've had my PV-GS300 DVC cam since 2006 and it hasn't failed me yet. I'm also a fan of Canons and a couple of Sony cams. Although Sony can sometimes be a bit unnecessarily complicated, especially when using them on the fly.

I bought a DVX100b back in the day and I love it but it soon was obsolete due to physical media and as much as I want to go back to it I think the price point is a bit too high for a fixed lens camcorder but that's just me!

I had the DVX100 in Nov 2002. Used it until 2014. Loving the HD version.

I've been super interested in this camera. Maybe you can answer this, how's the face recognition autofocus on this camera? I'm interested in taking it in the woods, set it on the tripod, stand in front of it, and do a V-log! I can't do that with my GH4 as it will drop focus and hunts all the time. I want something with a reliable autofocus for this exact use. Currently, my Canon 80D is the only camera I can count on to do this (my A7R2 is great for this too but doesn't have a fully articulating screen to check for composition!) So, will this camera have easy ergonomics? Does it have a remote control wireless record trigger? Thanks for your answer. Again, main use is self shooting without a camera operator.

+RealWorld Endo Thank you for your comment. we cant speak to your exact situation. But when using the auto-focus it wasn't noteworthy either-way. Not great, not bad. Unfortunately the camera is out of our hands now, otherwise we would be able to give you better information. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.

+RealWorld Endo Auto focus is very good with this camera and can be very customized.

+Christopher Ashworth Thank you Christopher! But my question is more specific about it not hunting during autofocus with face recognition for Vlog and self filming of a talking head. Have you tried that and it works better than the GH4, where I've found it to be unpredictable?
@danieldougan2692 жыл бұрын
I'd love to see a direct successor to the AG-AF100 that is essentially a GH6 in a camcorder form factor. The BGH1 is a box camera, not a true camcorder. Most problematically, it doesn't have built-in ND filters. The JVC GY-LS300 is closer to that idea, and it has the advantage of a Super 35 sensor, but it's only an 8-bit camera. Oh, and throw in some phase-detect autofocus.

Looks like some shots look like they are LOG setting of some kind. Just watched the back end of the video so not sure you mentioned that. This camera looks ideal for event stuff although pretty decent low light. You have had this almost a year now so what is your take after all that time?
@videomaker7 жыл бұрын
Yes, some was shot in VLog. Unfortunately we had to return the camera after the review, so we don't have any future insight. Best!

Do you know how to clear the display of information when playing the clips back? I can't find anywhere in the menu display panel that allows you to watch the clips back via thumbnail with a clear view so that you don't have any information written on the screen!

I'd like something like this but with a faster lens (F 2.8) on the long end of the zoom. Plus to record to P2 cards instead of SD cards. Icing on the cake would be to have the option to record Apple Pro Res HQ

I want to like this camcorder because it looks so cool... but rented it and realized it wasn't the best for weddings and interviews. Wish I was an ENG shooter!
@buffkapital4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. I've had mine for a few years now and I've shot lots of projects including weddings. Imagine quality, audio control, low performance, image stabilization, and overall reliability have been superb. The only issue I've had is size amd weight. My arm gets a little tired after a few hours but I guess that's the price you pay for a 4/3 sensor size on a fixed lenses camcorder.

When the DVX100 came out it allowed many filmmakers to create great short films. How is this camera not good for filmmaking?
@videomaker8 жыл бұрын
+EL Carlos Diaz its not that its not good for filmmaking, any camera when put in the right hands can be good for filmmaking. Its rather, you wont be able to be as deliberate with your DOF as you can be with a detachable lens camera. Thanks for watching!
