An introduction to the Panasonic GH3 camera, shot at London Zoo press event

Colin, I only had a limited time with this camera. I will do a full review as soon as I get hold of a full production sample. I did have several problems with the model that I was given for the short time. The Autofocus, kept turning off and the camera shut down on several occasions, amongst other things. But it was a pre-production sample so it would be unfair to be too critical. I will chase up the full review sample in the morning.

Yes, this camera is more than capable of producing professional quality video, and you do not need to add any viewing accessories either. Lenses will vary on your own requirements, but all the Panasonic lenses I have used have produced excellent results.

The bitrate for European Broadcast Standard is 50mpps. The GH3 can output uncompressed video via the HDMI port - not sure about the 4.2.2. though, I will ask Panasonic about this

Unfortunately I do not have a high speed Broadband (AOL) and uploading the 720p took over 1 hour. When I change my IP I will use 1080p, but at them moment I do not want my front garden path demolished and an ugly box placed in my hallway, so for the time being I am sticking with AOL over a telephone line (AOL sold me a package for 25mbps and I barely get 800k)

Didn't forget to clean it, there is some internal dust in the lens, it will have to go in for a service.

Vince, Why did you upload only 720p footage but not 1080p? The 720p footage does not look sharp.

Hi Vincent since i started videography i have been using Panasonic cameras so iwant to to know if this camera can do the real work on videos on proffetional level and if there is any spesific lens that u can recommnd please do so thanks lepang

I´m confused about the "European broadcast standard". As far as I know, this camera does neither record 4:2:2 nor output it via HDMI, so how can it be "broadcast standard"? Thanks
