It's plenty sharp enough for the money, I have no idea what you're doing wrong, but it's something. I've taken shots of birds in the garden at 150mm and the feather detail was as sharp as any tele I've used for that purpose.

I own the 45-200 love that lens. Some say the same thing not very sharp. Have had good success though!

It is very sharp for my copy of this lens. Many other reviewers think highly of it as well. Please be realistic about your reviews. Also, you must have done something wrong with your lens or your photography per se.

It is actually sharper on an Olympus OM-D series camera. It is very good on my OMD-EM1 and EM-10, was mediocre on my GH2.

About sharpness, never forget Panasonic has 2 lenses ranges, Lumix and Leica (PanaLeica), the main difference is that Lumix Lenses are not optically perfect and software corrected when Leica are optically "perfect". Meaning to get the best of a Panasonic lens you must ensure firmware on both the camera and the lens are updated, because if not, your results might be not as good as they should. Also with FW updates, some old lenses become capable of dual stabilisation when they were not design for it. Such as this one or the 45-175 and 45-200 mkI.

I’m glad I got this for free with my GX85 along with the 12-32mm. Because I’m about to sell it, the Olympus 40-150mm f/4-5.6 may not have OIS, but it’s much much sharper and you can buy it for cheap. I was very disappointed in this lens, but I got it for free after all. Even f/8 at 1/500 it’s soft. It’s not even worth keeping despite me getting it for free.

My 45-150 is pretty sharp. Other reviewers have had sharp copies, too. I wonder if there is something wrong with yours.

The circular distortion in the background bokeh, especially when taking zoom-ins of birds and similar stuff, is super noticeable. Look at the footage at 3:00, the middle of the frame looks... off. You wouldn't be able to tell right away, but I've been birding around and the circular distortion is quite severe. Next in the list of problems: vignetting. Its super heavy too, look at 3:00 again. The grass directly behind the head is significantly brighter, almost unnatural. Meanwhile the edges of the frame can even go below normal. So the center is too bright, and the edges are too dark, SIMULTANEOUSLY. Thus, cropping after a photo is a very good idea.

Just got this lens 3 days back. Came in a Panasonic box with no seal during amazon delivery. Is this the norm ? Does this lens come without any box lid seal sticker of any kind ? Kindly share a little fast because ill go for a return if they given me a used or demo'ed unit.

Some may be ex-demo units, but they should've been made clear at the point of sale. Maybe try getting a discount from the seller instead, if it's working ok?

I purchased this zoom. Its sharpness is cathatrophic, like the old olympus 70-150. Very expensive for the result, although all other aspects are good.

I personally think the 25mm is a lot better for portraits. Unless you got some good lighting this lens doesn't do incredibly well. Pretty decent and still better than phone cameras though

No, the fz80 has a fixed lens. It is not interchangeable.

Be careful when using Panasonic lenses. Some of the lenses are non-AS-enabled, and they will exchange them for 80% of the original sales price. It is not described on the homepage. Be careful when you buy lenses.
