I love this camera. Got mine a couple of weeks ago. Am getting some really nice quality photos from it.The video quality is nice too. Also the speaker quality isn't bad either. I've been having too much fun just playing with it, but someday soon, I might actually read the manual. I've barely touched the settings & such of what this camera can do yet. I still have a lot to learn about it! So far, I'm quite happy though.

just got the fz82 to get me back into photography, loving it so far and IQ seems great even tho alot of reviews are saying IQ is not up to par with the competition, i think why you know how to extract the best results from this cam you can get some amazing shots, what your getting for the price is mind boggling, a fully stabilized 20 - 1200mm lens decent IQ as long as you keep the ISO low.

The F 2.8 is the maximum aperture at the wide angle, the F 5.9 is the maximum aperture at the far end of the zoom range. Smaller the number, more light it lets in. The Fuji has a larger aperture at the full zoom, whereas the Panasonic has a wider field of view at 20mm. At the full zoom 1200mm the FZ70 lets in the most light, However, the Sony HX 300 with a higher res sensor may resolve the image slighter better, but at higher cost. You can't go wrong with this or the Sony.

+Khaki Cactus Most cameras have a tripod socket, as does this one. I don't believe it has external mic inputs, you would need to move up to a semi pro level camera for that.

nymphetamine filth One notable difference between this camera and the Nikon P600 is that the Nikon isn't threaded for screw-on filters. No way to add a polarizing and any other filter to that camera.

I have this camera and if your going to take pictures in auto mode you will be fine and they will look good. But if you need to change stuff up in manual you might run into some noise and pixelating issues. Image looks really good still ive take lots of cool night pictures and amazing portrait and landscape photos in manual. Just certain times when I manually change exposure and shutter speed I get lots of noise. This camera however is terrible at recording. The whole video is all grainy and has lots of noise. Overall for 300 right now it had done good for me in a year but needing to do more demanding things Ill have to upgrade soon. Hope this helps anyone on here.

Hi Lexpix, I have one and find it very easy to get around and overall, a great little camera. I've had some surprising results when I didn't expect them, most notably in low light..and on ' program ', to boot. I bought the Canon not long after, thinking that I'd like one more than the other ( the Canon image quality being one reason ) and then sell one. After using both, I've found both have their advantages and now can't split them. The 20mm wide angle on this is a real asset and the colours are superb. Video also is very good indeed. It's an easier camera to find your way around, but there again I'm probably biased as I've had quite a few Panasonics. Image quality is a lot better than some have reported, to the extent that while I thought this might be a stumbling block for me, it hasn't been. I've had some super still images that have led to my inability to separate this and the SX50. I think all these superzooms will have their pluses and minuses and it boils down to what feels best to the individual. Many thanks for taking the time to share your insights and info via your very nicely made video.

Thanks for the comment. I agree, just comes down to personal preferences since they are are pretty much the same in terms of image quality using the same 1 2/3 size sensors in this super zoom group. I've always liked the "look" of the images out of Canon cameras, but like the innovations Panasonic brings to the table.

Tommy Stedham I never go for them. I'd figure the manufacturers warranty is all you rally need. I haven't had any issues with any of my cameras to warrant it.

Just purchased this camera and having a hard time w/ the flash. I can not get it to go off. I'm wondering if mine is defective or there is a special "trick" to get it to come on. I have searched the internet everywhere and spent hours trying all different things! I have the flash flipped up but it won't go off, even in very low light.

If they don't allow DSLR, they may not allow this since it may "look" like one. The low light isn't bad, especially in video mode where it isn't as noticeable as it would be in stills at higher ISO settings. It is a smaller 1 2/3" size sensor which is usable up to ISO 800 IMHO.

How is the image quality on low light? ISO range? It would be nice to bring this to a concert so I won't have to pay big bucks to see and shoot a performance up close;-) I'd prefer to bring a DSLR but sadly, it's not allowed.

Yehuda Goldberg You can move up the 1" sensors like the Sony RX100 or Micro Four Thirds like the Panasonic LX100 or even an APS-C DSLR and add your own wide angle lens.

I personally bought this camera used on BH Photo Video for $160. For $160 I am amazed , especially since BH rated it as a 9/10 for its usage as it's pretty much new. If you want this camera I'd say look around BH Photo Video for the camera used, I'm not sure it would be a good deal in this day and age considering the camera is two years old, but just my oppinion. Buying it used for $160 was a steal.

Rayhan Looks like it will work, however, I’m not a big fan of attaching anything but filters to the end of an existing built in lens. Image quality suffers, especially in the corners and further hinders low light performance.

Yeah, but its no big deal since you can see the results immediately. I'm not a fan of on-camera flash since it gives red-eye and is a very weak, unflattering light source.

I bought mine at Costco for $300. I really like this camera.the only negative about it is the bulk. Just a bit too big. I also wish it had a date and time stamp on the picture. Check out Samsun new one almost identical to this camera and it also has WIFI.

Some of my pics were taken as jpeg and some were taken as raw. Is there a setting for this? I do not recall making this change while on vacation, but my wife may have :) It looks fairly expensive to download the software to my computer to change the file extension from raw to jpeg because my computer does not read raw. Ron Fariss The setting would have had to be set within the image quality menu screen. You can use Gimp, free software to convert it I think.

Sameer Ghewari FZ200 uses a better quality lens, the F 2.8 allows you to shoot in lower light at the further end of the zoom unlike the FZ70.

You can set it to manual mode and have the flash fire regardless of lighting condition, but then you'll have to play around with the camera to subject distance.

i have this panasonic fz70.. you should mention..if you turn on digital zoom.. you get 300 x at 16 megapixels..and if you lower the megapixels.. you take pictures at 640 x zoom.. with default lens :))... i take movies and pictures of the moon with this.. can see craters on the moon.... got a couple movies on my channel.. if you interested in seing.. how close you can get to the moon with this puppy

Hace 1 segundo Hola tengo desde hace un poco mas de un año de adquirida y con poco uso una Lumix DMC FZ70, o mejor dicho un uso normal, familiar, paisajes, etc. De un día para otro y sin haber hecho nada, la tengo protegida, en estuche y en un placard, dejó de mostrar imagen, todas las funciones de la máquina y el menú aparecían normalmente y el zoom completamente activo pero tanto la pantalla como el visor mostraban una pantalla totalmente negra, sacabas fotos y cuando las reproducia eran totalmente negras como se veía en la pantalla. La envié al "service oficial" en buenos aires y me informan que que le tengo que cambiar el zoom y el sensor a un costo que practicamente era una máquina nueva. Lamentable, también en el service me informaron que no era la primera vez que fallava el sensor y el sum. Ahora con la máquina nueva en mi casa ni siquiera puedo mover el zoom ni ver el menú, está totalmente inutilizada y nueva sin desgaste. Te informo esto por que vi que tenías un video con los atributos de la cámara que para mi gusto son los que me la hicieron comprar. saludos Edgardo

I paid $150 U.S. over a year ago for this camera. It is now June, 2017. It was a discontinued model and Best Buy was giving them away. I think I got the last one off the shelf. The 20mm to 1,200 zoom lens is extreme. I'd rather have the Nikon P900 which lens goes out to 2000mm, but it costs over $500. I stole my Lumix for $150.

actually you can.you need to buy a small cable that has a micro usb to a jack 3.5 adaptor that costs for about a dollar on amazon.also go pro has a cable like this but it costs 20$.
