Hi Mr Sulanto, thanks for this very well made video tutorial ! You are my “lumix Guru” 😎 I start to follow your channel with my first FZ300 an unbeatable camera for his price range. Then…I start to desire something more, a wide sensor, a better camera for better photos. So I fall in love “on paper with the Fujifilm products ( than are all fantastic cameras) I get my dream camera XT3, after tons of video and reviews, amazing tool with incredible specs, but…… day after day I have founded my self to use more and more the old FZ300 ( of course I’m not a professional user ) I was not able to build the aspected confidence with the xt3, so I have sold it for a new G90+Leica 12-60 and now, yes I feel the camera totally in my hand, I can grow and play whit it for the more intuitive menu and controls and all this thanks to you precious tips and tutorials. Thanks for your efforts and creativity keep doing more like this 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Hey Paolo, I went from a FZ150, to a FZ200 and I sold a Canon DSLR I had along with the FZ150 and stuck with Lumix FZ200 waiting for a successor to the FZ300. After waiting for several years, I finally gave up and got a FZ300. I was going to purchase the Fuji XS-10 but could not stand the sheer lack of any grip so I purchased a G85 and G9 within one week of each other. LOL I like the G9 but the grip of the FZ300 fits my hand the best from all three. I also have the Leica 12-60 with the G9 and want to get the 8-18mm one day. :)

I enabled back button focusing. It does not disable front button on my GH5. I'm giving that a try. I almost never used exposure lock and if I need one, shutter does both locks (if no back focus is used) and if back focus has been pressed shutter locks exposure. I never thought of putting iso to back wheel because on Canon it has fixed other feature. Now that I shoot mostly with Lumix I need to give that a try. I'm shooting manual most of the time and ISO has been a pain to adjust quickly so far.

i predict that if you go with back dial for exposure, you will like it. On my primes I am now starting with a minus 1/3 with both Panny and Oly lenses -- with kit zooms, I start out with standard - no compensation.

What settings would you recommend using to shoot nature videos?
@mattisulanto3 жыл бұрын
That depends on so many things, that it's impossible to give any kind of short answer. I think it's best if you try some settings for yourself and then decide which looks the best for you. Film the same scene with different Photo Styles and then see which you like. My favorite straight out of camera Photo Style is the CNED. However, what comes to the exposure, the shutter speed always twice the frame rate, for example: frame rate 25 fps, shutter speed 1/50.

My advice is, that you explore your camera and how you can set it up. Where would you like to have the shutter, aperture etc. It's fairly easy to find out which setting you can program to which control. That's how I do it, when I get a new camera. I don't have a GX7 available, so I can't give any detailed instructions, but I'm sure you can figure it out and you'll learn to know your camera a bit better too.

Hello Mr Sulanto, I am shooting with an SR1 and I have two questions, 1) Is there any talk of Panasonic making the distance scale show Hyperfocal distance. I have the Sigma 24 3.5, and the DOF scale it shows is so different from what I see on my Leica M 28 lens. For example at F16 it shows a green line from 3ft to 5ft. Should that not be 3ft to infinity? 2) Is there a way for shutter speed, aperture and ISO to remain constant when switching between custom modes. For example I might be shooting custom mode 1, black and white, have my exposure set, then switch to custom mode 2 color, but I then have to set the shutter and aperture again. Keep up the good work!
@mattisulanto3 жыл бұрын
1) I suggest you test both lenses and see which DOF scale is correct. The acceptable sharpness is subjective and the DOF is never on/off. The sharpness feathers away slowly until it becomes unacceptable. 2) When you switch to a custom mode, the camera first uses the same values that you used when you saved that custom mode. The idea with the custom modes is that you can set everything the way you want. So the camera has all the right settings when you switch to a custom mode.
@peterhelenius76143 жыл бұрын
@@mattisulanto thanks for your quick answer. I will do some tests in a few days. The thing I find frustrating is that a DOF chart will show a 24mm lens at F8, should be acceptably sharp from 1.37meters to infinity with the lens focused at 3 meters. The green line on the manual guide on the S1r shows 2.65 meters to 4 meters when focused at 3 meters. Not even close to a DOF scale you would see on a lens. I am used to shooting prefocused with a Leica M lens, quickly set with the DOF scale on the lens. The green line on the S1r is kind of useless for that purpose. By what standard is Panasonic using to define the green line? Thank you again for your help.
@peterhelenius76143 жыл бұрын
@@mattisulanto I have been doing more research, seems like the DOF scale on the S1r is suitable for large prints and pixel peeping. Would be nice if they user selectable DOF standards. Fuji film does, they offer a Digital setting ( a shallow DOF for a higher DOF standard) and a film based DOF ( a standard that is closer to traditional DOF scales) I would very much like to see these choices made available to LUMIX camera users.

On my GX85, I can not do so, sadly....So I either watch for too low a shutter speed, crank the ISO up higher, or go with Shutter Priority 1/320 or 1/250 sec when doing street shooting. It works with kit lenses, but with faster primes, I like to go Aperture Priority & avoid F4 on my 25mm f1.7 due to possible focus shift issues.
