The G9 mkii also demonstrated that M4/3 isn't dead. It doesn't have the same following and fan base as full frame cameras, but the people who love it do so for good reasons and the full frame market doesn't have compelling reasons to give up on it. M4/3 will be with us a lot longer yet.

Same i love the mft system but the camera is capable in low light with the right lenses but the mft lenses that are 2.8 and lower are really really hard to come by in proper focal length. I've shot with the gh4, gh5, g95, g9 and I just updated to the s5iix. So trust me it's not a bias I have the experience.

But it also says it can record 5760x4320 (which would be 5.8K open gate) in 12-bit RAW via HDMI, but none of the reviews I've seen go into much detail about using external recorders, so can you confirm if this is true?

The XLR kit with the 32bit audio is much more important than most people think. I just hope the GH7 preamps are better than those in the S5II/S5IIx. Looks like a really good camera to be honest and you can find ways to work around it’s flaws/limitations.

Yep. Let me add that quite a few people should consider the G9 II, too. Internal 1.9 gbps ProRES recording is no fun. If I have to use a SSD the G9 II (which I own) is an excellent choice.

3:10 on my S5IIX I have a front custom button set to "Operation Lock" which disables all buttons and dials, highly recommend doing this if the camera supports it

I never had those issues you described with my GH6. Even though I learned filming when autofocus not yet exist, and still love manual focus, I missed more accurate autofocus every now and then. Espaccially on a gimbal. The 32 bit audio, is much more interesting for solo shootings. And so yes this is an update I will take when it will be delivered in July.

Honestly, to have 4 tracks of audio recorded seamlessly I think is a fair rade off not to have 32bit float especially when you do have 32bit float on 2 or 3 tracks. There is no 32bit float at all on Sony cameras and only two tracks of audio. (I may be mistaken but I haven't found the 3 tracks if possible.) Honestly I am not a fan of micro 4/3 only because the lenses are single use for the most part. I use Sony E mount FF lenses on my Sony APSC body and vice versa. I like Lumix and almost switched to the S5IIX.

When you pop into frame at 13:27 and walk across it shows box on your face but background focus doesn’t change at all for a few seconds then briefly it attempts to focus on you. Seems the same as Fuji with false AF boxes.

About the rattling strap triangles, you can solve that by wrapping small elastic bands around the mounts. Heat shrink might also work, but I hesitate recommending blowing hot air at a camera.
