As the Z6iii focuses on speed (and isn't an entry camera pricewise at 2,999€ in Germany), I'd expect two foto-centric bodies next: A Z7iii with a gazillion megapixels and a full frame entry-level camera for the system: The Z5ii with decent af but apart from that entry level specs.

I'm coming from the Sony camp and I want Nikon to light the world on fire!!! I love competition so when people ask me what brand to use I tell them to rent a body to kick the tires to see what brand will YOU feel comfortable with. I remind them that you're really investing in the glass so choose carefully and I then tell them to get out there and make it happen by producing great images and/or videos!!! My photography circle of friends use Nikon, Canon, Sony, Panasonic and Fuji and all they're all able to produce great work from their tools. Kudos to Nikon and I hope that camera will turn the photography world upside down as did the Canon 5D Mark II when it hit the market or when Sony brought the game changing eye focus and who can forget the Nikon 850 or the Canon 1DX!!! Just my two cents.

Seems Nikon is the only full frame camera maker that isn't clearly kneecapping their lower end bodies to protect the higher end. This is the way it should be. Newer, lower end cameras SHOULD be better than older high end cameras.
@TechnoBabble7 ай бұрын
@@oatsgoats39 New tech costs a lot in R&D, they need to make their money back on anything they develop. They can't use brand new stuff and then sell it in a low end body for cheap. That should just be obvious. What I'm referencing are examples like Sony LOWERING the framerate on their new cameras to try and push people towards the A9 and A1 if they need any kind of speed, despite the increasing amount of processing power and faster storage solutions. For example: A7R III did 10fps uncompressed RAW, the A7R IV does 7fps. The A7 III did 10fps uncompressed RAW, the A7 IV does 6fps. Then you have Canon: The R6 II absolutely should have been able to do 4k120 with binning/line skipping/cropping, but then nobody would have a reason to buy the R5 for video other than 8k. And speaking of that; the readout speed of the R6 II sensor would also have allowed it to record full width 6k video (even open gate 6k, actually), but then the R5's resolution advantage would be severely diminished. Panasonic doesn't limit their stuff as much, but they don't release cameras nearly as often.

Your world is about changed forever. The OG Z6 was substanially better to operate than the D750. This coming from someone who shot 100 weddings on the D750 from 2015-2018. 2019 got the Z6. Downgraded to the Z5 for SD card slot convenience. Just shot a Z8 as main body this weekend for a wedding, 3D tracking is mindblowingly good. I was barely thinking about focus throughout the day. Hopefully this novel sensor format doesn't develop novel issues over time. Seems like high shutter speed there is novel banding issues that aren't in other fully stacked configurations.

While most sonys stopped at eight, the Z9 surprisingly 8.5-9 and the likes of RED raptor at 9+. @andrewrice93837 ай бұрын
I looked at the design a little bit, it’s a partially stacked CMOS sensor, so it might be that a little bit of light efficiency is lost, meaning that the effective dynamic range is slightly reduced. So my guess is the pixels are slightly less sensitive due to the partially stacked design where most likely the data processing circuitry is blocking a little bit of the light. I can’t know for sure though I’m just guessing.

Thank you Gerald for another great review. I just bought a Z6 III to be paired with the Z6 II I've been using in a cinema type rig configuration for several years now. To my dismay, I'm finding Nikon has made it nearly impossible to use this camera with external batteries. SmallRig NPF plates worked fine to feed power via a dummy battery to my Z6 II, but the same configuration is flatly rejected by the Z6 III, which turns on only to display an "insufficient battery data" message and then turns off. I would be willing to invest in a V-mount type battery system that I can feed into the Z6 III via dummy-battery (since I need the camera's single USB-C port to connect Nikon's own MC-N10 remote grip) but I haven't found any options yet that are confirmed to be compatible. Perhaps you have some tips you can share regarding this scenario? Thanks in advance!

Great review again. How did you manage to follow that stranger for the Ibis test without him noticing you? Do have really quiet shoes?

I want to see real life results on DR, as I have a good idea on how the Z6 II dynamic range was, but as we know RAW is more noisey so that was expected

The Z6 III makes the Canon R6 II and Sony A7IV look like outdated cameras. It surpassed those on all technical aspects. High ISO out-of-camera JPEG looks very good on the Z6 III as well.

Thank you. Even though I’m just a stills shooter as an engineer I enjoy your reviews. Probably not for me but I am interested in any pre-capture features they have added and their approach to improving shutter speeds. Take care.

**Edit** Just found it up to 1 second pre-release in JPG only and up to 3 seconds post-release JPG only (post release is that new?) So far none of the videos or specs I’ve seen have mentioned pre-capture at all. It’s not a feature I use but it has gained popularity so I imagine it will have at least a JPG pre-capture

Great review, very promising camera for the price. I would like to know about the available bitrates for the h264 and h265 video formats. Could you make a video with this information and the camera's performance in low light?

What's the resolution like? Does it exhibit any moiré or aliasing? Thanks

To think the video features in this new body is Nikon base and nothing infuse with RED stuff is impressive. Great review bro!

So 1080p up to 240fps - is this 8bit or 10 bit ? Or can we shoot in NRAW too ?
