Your sample photos are so much better than most bigger channels i've seen. Under appreciated! Thanks for the help in deciding on this lens!

I know autofocus for video is notoriously not great with Panasonic, but has anyone found that while shooting video the face tracking autofocus is unusable? I'm wondering if there's a setting I'm missing. I have the clutch engaged and set to "C" continuous AF. I see it hunting for focus with a yellow box around the subjects face but it takes forever to find focus and when it does, it fails to hold it. These are in fairly bright conditions.

Yes I think I’m fortunately auto focus is very limited in terms of usability on these cameras. Absolutely fine for stationary subjects. All of the lumix amount cameras are exceptionally good for professional broadcast quality, but for the user case you describe, people who are definitely far more qualified than I am will say that you have to go manual all the way. Stupid question but I guess you did the November updates to the firmware of the bodies because that has made quite a bit of a difference. Again stupid question as I’m sure you have.

Hi! I finally got the Lumix S Pro 24-70mm. I am very happy with it. It is a real work horse and the image quality is very good. I have two questions, if you would be kind enough to share your insight. The lens emits a high pitched, quite audible beeping when auto focusing. Not in photo mode, only in film mode, single and continuous. Do you notice it too? Furthermore: Dale Baskin of DP Review talks (at 1:24) in their recent youtube video: Explainer: Panasonic Lenses for Video, about step-less aperture. And doing so, they show a scene (two women on boat) with the notification Lumix S Pro 24-70mm 2.8 on top. The scene gets darker, showcasing a step-less decrease in aperture. Did I miss something? It seems to me that the Lumix S Pro 24-70mm has no such function. I own the lens and I use it with my S1H and I have been researching this without success. Can you confirm that this capability really exists. Thank you!

Hello at 2:15 I think you make a mistake and a false statement : if you want to tune your focus after having done an AF to your subject, as soon as you pull the clutch you loose your focus approach as the focus will be set to the position of the Manual ring which is different than the position of the AF result. This is absolutely counter productive. The lens keeps the last manual position of this ring and when you switch from AF to manual the Focus distance switches from what the AF motor does to what your last Manual Focus distance was.

Do you think the 24 to 70 is a better lens than the 24 to 105 lumix?

What about focus motor on AF mode with full-time manual (manual focus override). Is it still linear (like on MF mode) or variable (non-linear) like in many other lenses?

would this lens be a good for indoor talking head videos in a tight space?

Excellent, perceptive. Subscribed.

Confused that you say you can pull the clutch back to engage manual focus to make fine adjustments. When you do that on every other Panasonic lens it immediately snaps to where it was last set (hence the whole point of the marking on it) making it impossible to make fine adjustments this way. Does this one work differently?

Nice Video, thanx! I'm looking forward to pair this lens with my S1H. Btw., the balance between music and voice ist "slightly" out of balance 🙃.

for over 2 grand it better be amazing... and if they'll give me soft corners, I'd rather pay less... Personally, I don't care about softer corners but for the price, I'd rather get a manual Leica and be done with it.
