PANASONIC has done it, the improvement of the Auto Focus in the new Firmware UPDATE that was launched today the 24th of November 2020.

Did you notice any significant improvement for the AF for the S1R ?

I did not have yet the opportunity for a shooting with model with the S1R for face and eye detection. Globaly the AF is Fast but still is contrast basé only... In some situation it fails.

Do you know how to restart completely camera, to put as new without updates? got huge problem with S1R after update 1,6 (( I got missing focus ( front-focus) like it is old camera(( or not focusing at all, so I call to shop, they advise me to reset all settings and do again as it is new camera as

You cannot do this. If you do a reset, it will just change the settings to default values, but it will not roll back your firmware to version 1.0.

This update totally broke my Lumix s1 AF in single point or expanded single point. It will not focus or lock focus half the time, whereas it was not a problem with firmware 1.5.

@@AIP404 ?? Yes, a camera that worked just fine before the update and now doesn't... I've been using this camera for the last 6 months and have not had any issues. I got a near-perfect hit rate with the previous firmware and I've updated the firmware twice before on the camera. It sounds like a firmware problem.

@@AIP404 That's 2 that I know of... the problem with these updates is that we won't know how many will work and how many won't because most people don't post on youtube... From my experience, firmware updates rarely produce problems, but if they do, it's good to know that sooner than later. I contacted Panasonic just in case.

Sorry I don’t understand your point. Do you mean one area and one area plus? Mine is working very properly after the update. Both the S1R and S1. What lens do you use? Did you try with several lenses?

@@DidierMOULINPhotography I reset the camera to defaults and checked other modes. The issue actually persists in all AF modes and also fails to track. I've used it with Panasonic S 28-70 f2.8 and a couple of sigma lenses (all on latest firmware versions). The system worked fine before. I think there is a conflict with certain settings since when it's set to all defaults, it's not as bad as when I set up the camera for my typical use cases. I've never had anything like this on any camera system before and I've used Fuji, Sony, Nikon and Panasonic... It's rather noticeable to me.
