Hello Didier, thank you for your wonderful overview of the custom settings, I only have one question and that is why you didn't set the ISO numbers higher, in a previous video you set the ISO numbers to 12,000 on the D3s, which I've had for two years and have been very happy with so far. Is there a reason why you only set it up to ISO 800, but everything in the shooting menu was great and I think it's great that you're still experimenting with this Nikon D3s or D3x and I think it's a very good camera too.. thx chris

Hello Chris and thanks for watching this las video. Well the answer is simple, the D3X doesn't go very High in ISO in the contrary of the D3S It's a camera you want to shoot at its lower ISO to get the best image quality. Thanks again for your support. Have a great day

nice walk-through Didier - thanks. I have to admit that when I shot Nikon as my main camera (D90, D700 and briefly D800) I rarely ventured deep into the menu. Shooting landscapes I didn't really feel the need to have rapid access to any modes, etc. But it's nice to see that on their pro cameras Nikon really did put the photographer first, with so many dedicated buttons 🙂

Hi Didier, thank you for another wonderful video! I have 2 of these D3x and I developed a love-hate relationship with them. I can live with ISO limitations, but one thing that drives me crazy is that in 14-bit raw the shutter sounds terrible. Not only it goes down from 5fps to <2fps, but it sounds weak… as if I shoot at 1/20s (regardless of actual shutter speed). Other than that it is a great camera.
@DidierMOULINPhotography12 күн бұрын
Hi, thank you for this very positive feedback and sharing your experience with the D3X. Yes indeed you are right, when 14 bits RAW is engaged, the burst rate drops... But personally I love this sound ! It doesn't change if I am in 12 or 14 bits and it's one of the characteristic of the camera that I really like. This sound is amazing. Great to see a new review of the D3X. I loved and still love the camera. Only issue I found is the image quality at high ISOs, like 1,600, is not that great. So for low light it benefits from working alongside the D4, for example. But at 100 ISO the images are truly incredible on the D3X… and on a par with more modern cameras… Still don’t understand why it was SO VERY expensive when it was new though… and I bought mine new when it first came out!

Hi Didier, thank you for making this video. When shooting when there's plenty of light, do you notice a difference b/w D6 and D3S? I think where the D6 shines is shooting in very low light and not missing a shot in sports or wildlife photography. Also, the eye autofocus is a good improvement for moving subjects. But even a 10 year old Fuji mirorless that costs a lot less than the D6 does eye autofocus and costs much less than the used D6. If the D6 costs below 1,000 USD, I'd go for it. D3S and used Fuji mirrorless won't break the bank. I do appreciate your inputs though. I love your content.

A great thing to do is buy old manual lenses. I've been doing this for many years. I have some very good lenses some of which are over 70 years old. Obviously Leica lenses are good but expensive. Schneider Krueznach, early preset and auto Takumars, Nikons and Zeiss are great. The worst buys are Sony cameras or at least the larger full frame ones. They fail a lot and have horrible value depreciation. This is why I'm looking at full frame Lumix. My Sony has had a number of issues and is now useless.

D700 with new lenses works great too. Im using a Sigma 85mm Art on my D700. Supersharp and high contrast.

Yes you are perfectly right. The D700 is not a hight demanding sensor and those pixels of that time are soooo nice, when used with great lenses, it's a real joy.

The S1 seems like a ridiculously cheap bargain now with good video capability. I have a lot of old vintage lenses and these S1s are perfect for adapting them since autofocus is not such a priority and the EVF on these cameras is very good as well. IBIS is also very good. The main issue is the large size.

You perfectly nailed it. A S1 is easy to find at one third of the price of a SL2S which is the same camera !!!

I'm working on it. Sorry if I don't make videos more often. it's hard work each time and it's unfortunately not my main activity nor do I earn money with it.
