Awesome video. I find that if you look to use manual focus first, the autofocus can be a good "better alternative" in certain situation. Depending upon your camera, of course. I have the Sony a6400, and so, face and eye detection, and object tracking are all really pretty awesome, but still, manual is my "go to" all the time, first. I agree with you. Trust your brain before you trust the camera. And amen to "keep learning". Thanks for the great work.

I like monochrome live view combined with peaking. It means only the stuff in color is in focus and it is awesome even though I suck at manual focus 😂

I’m glad thank you for watching! Yes actually there’s a way to add a REC709 lut. There’s a setting called “Gamma Display Assist” turn that to auto or select SLOG2 to REC709 and it’ll apply the lut to make it easier to focus 🙏

Yes. In the function menu I believe is where you can switch it to manual if the lens itself doesn’t have a manual switch

I need help. I got a samyang lens for my canon 60d and all I need is the beep or the red dot that lights up in the middle to tell me it's in focus. That's all I want :'(

I asked on a discord group and they said the same. Should've asked before buying but I really didn't expect this.
