Really digging (enjoying) your accent. :-) Glad to see your S5 is up and running again (replaced or fixed)? Just jumped into the Lumix full frame with an S5 new and an S1H used (have Canon and also added the new Sony A7 IV after suffering a major G.A.S. attack). I found the Lumix 50mm 1.8 I got with the S5 an interesting lens, seems quite good for the price. The shutter on the S1H reminds me of the Canon R5 shutter... very smooth and has a quality sound as compared to the S5. I'm guessing the shutter in the S1H is the same as the S1. I did want the S1H primarily for the anti-aliasing filter, since moiré is so ugly... and as an original Blackmagic 2.5K owner, I've dealt with major moiré. Some say it's not an issue with the higher MP count bodies. I also like watching your Leica and Zeiss Contax vids since I have several of both (including Zeiss Classics)... even owned Contax lenses new from back in the day (I'm dating myself). Should also mention that I've watched your piano vid several times now... it has such a great vibe to it. That simple video is exceptional IMHO. Anyone who's reading this comment and hasn't seen it, should give it a view... kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIXNh2ycgryVnLc

Very good video. Thx for posting. At 8:50 you say you can’t zoom in while recording. Are you saying that you can’t punch in while shooting video to check focus? I realize your comment seems obvious but I don’t understand why Panasonic would not let you punch in.

Thanks Tony! Yes you can't punch in the video while you're recording, to check if the focus is spot on. I know, it's very sad that Panasonic didn't manage to have reliable autofocus or good manual focus assist tools...hopefully one day they'll make our life easier with a firmware update ahahah. Cheers!

HEVC 200MB/s is equivalent to H.264 400MB/s because of the higher efficiency so the lower bitrate shouldn’t be worrying. The computer power problem however, is very real.

@LucaBono.Studio 2 жыл бұрын
Most of the time HEVC = 4:2:0 vs H.264 = 4:2:2 In my tests, I saw better results with the 4:2:2 codec
@Alexrocks1253
@Alexrocks1253 2 жыл бұрын
@@LucaBono.Studio that is true. HEVC 4:2:2 exists but I haven’t seen Panasonic use it, only Fuji and Sony. It’s very hard to edit on computers. Personally I see the 10-bit as far more important than the subsampling since banding shows up a lot more than pixel color errors.

Nice video, thanks! I must be one of the few that still use the S&Q mode! But the footage gets upscaled to 4K in VEAI before importing it to Resolve. 4K 60p in 50% speed with Resolve’s Speed Warp is another valid solution of course. It depends on the footage I guess!

I just added an S1 to my S5 and was a frustrated that the S1 does not support the luminance spot metering vor vlog. It‘s like the software for both cameras has been developed by different teams. Also the video options are a bit different. But holding the s1 in the hand is a real joy 👍 By the way: as always another great video Luca 👌

Hi Luca, I have a question for you. Namely, I recently purchased a Lumix S5. Mainly for filming. I like to film very much in Slomo. However, the setting of high frame rates is somehow different with Lumix than with Sony. With Sony, you just set the frame rate to 120fps, for example, and that's it. With Lumix, a framerate is also displayed in the S&Q mode. There it says either 4K25fps, 4k50fps, Fhd25fps or Fhd50fps. Which one do I choose? When I first viewed the footage, in terms of Fhd, 50fps at 120fps seemed much smoother to me than 25fps. I didn't have to do anything else with the 50fps footage in Final Cut either, as it already looked great. But my goal is to shoot scenes with talking and drone videos in 25fps and the b-roll shots in 100-120 fps. Can I still set the 25fps at 120fps and then, on the other hand, have to do something else to 50fps in Final Cut Pro? I hope you understand what I mean. With kind regards Jimmy

Definitely love my S5. The goods far outweigh the bad. I do wish the bads weren’t there. For example I would love ProRes natively in Camera. I would love for the focus to not suck wind. Even with the 20 to 60 it’s terrible. I would also love for the burst 6k shooting to not be only JPEG. But again the good outweighs the bad

I think you are totaly wrong about the S&Q botton beacause during a stressfull shout it's very useful to switch in between normal and slowmotion. Everyone doesn't get or have time to "think" or adjust. For a daily newspapers video content , with booth stills and video on a short ammount of time (stressfull) you have to do quick and dirty solutions 😜 For the quality in general however I can agree.🤗

i had experienced a trouble with a brand new lumix DC-S5. It have stucked on recording mode, the red button was dead and the main switch also. in order to stop it from recording i removed the battery and reinstall it. after that it was working normally again. That happened again 4 times untill now during the 50 weddings and christening i have shoot the last 10 months. When that is happening it destroys the last clip so, untill now i have lost once the dressing up of bride and some other important moments of other weddings. I never had that issue with my sony vg cameras. Do you have experienced something like this? Panasonic asked me to try different cards. Maybe the recording on both cards for safety is too heavy. If you have any idea about that kind of problem i would like to hear from you . Thank you

About the neck strap, I found that I can run the left side of the strap across the front of the camera and then run it underneath the bottom of the camera, securing it behind my thumb or a finger of my left hand, depending on how I hold the lens with my left hand. That way I can also put tension on the strap while preventing the strap from slipping across the left side, potentially damaging the screen hinge. You will probably need to adjust the length of the strap if you want to do that. I don't really like neck straps in general but your tip to use it to stabilize the camera worked well. I will probably still try to find a good handstrap of some sort, so it caries a bit more like a camcorder.

A safer solution could be a side handle and attach the camera strap there...I think there are wide side handles that let the flippy screen open freely 😉

Lol just got it yesterday for 1300€ new. Now i cant decide which lenses to get. I have some Canon FD lenses but in certain situations the image falls apart and doesn't look good with them. Was looking at either a set of Zeiss Classic or the new Panasonic F1.8 primes. Both have their upsides and downsides. While the Panasonic have the same size, filter thread, aperture and look, the Zeiss have more of a character and nicer focus ring. I sometimes shoot corporate interviews where i need sharp images and then again short or fashion films where i need a special look. Which set do you think would be more versatile?

As much as I personally despise Sony (I have my reasons), the new Sony A7 IV is without doubt the best hybrid camera, bar none...at present. If you didn't know, Panasonic is the only company that does not play ball with Sony, hence why it still uses the prehistoric auto-focus system (unless they invent their own technology). The only camera that will give Sony and Canon a run for its money is the Nikon Z9. It suddenly came out of nowhere to give the competition a slap on the face, just like Samsung did back in 2014 with the amazing NX1. The Pandora box has been opened.
