In this video, I review and test the Panasonic Lumix S5IIX. Following on from my previous camera test 'End of Summer' on my channel, I am now giving my thoughts and showing you footage from the Lumix S5IIX.
If this video performs well and has interest, I will follow up with some more shots and tests that I did with various lenses. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the video if you have any. #Lumix #LumixS5II #cinematic #35mm #MC21 #Panasonic

Fantastic video. Curious to see a comparison of ef vs native l mount lenses in regards to AF. I am currently using only ef lenses.
@minutesback
@minutesback Ай бұрын
I’ve used native glass but I’d say it more depends on whether the lenses itself is good with AF or sometimes of the adapter works with it. With the 35mm 1.8 and and a 18 2.8 samyang which are native I would say you probably get an extra 10-15 percent from it in fast situations but for a single subject moving or interview it’s perfect professionally usable. The old vintage lenses I have are slower than say my 50 or 85 which are very fast.

Thanks for the video, and thanks for sharing your thoughts on using Canon EF glass with the MC-21. As a hybrid shooter, I feel like the crop in 4K 60p / 50p is a bit of a shame. If I was shooting ONLY video, I would be tempted to just keep the camera in aps-c mode all the time with an aps-c lens on it. Then thrown on a full frame lens whenever I need 6K.
@minutesback
@minutesback 2 ай бұрын
Yeah that crop is a shame but I think if and when they release the s1H mkII they will resolve that however the price point may go up. Still I often find myself thinking about this camera in situations where my Sony taps out.

great video! also very funny made me laugh lol - my only note is i've no idea what happened on your low light test (maybe it was the rain? or codec? something to do with how you exported/ graded this video in post?) but at 4000 iso my s5iix is WAY cleaner than that, even in pretty challenging scenarios. like comparable to 640 iso clean

With the dark and rain I should have shot with pro res or the highest bit rate - so a bit of human error there. I did also shoot side by side with a A7s3 on the window shots and the Sony was a fair bit better that doesn’t mean it was bad for a 2024 camera it is just because I have a Sony I naturally compare it to it. In the same way every time I shoot anamorphic, or change my shutter or have blinking LED or have to shoot portrait, or shoot hand held… I think of this Lumix S5iIX 😇

@@minutesback low light and 4k 60 no crop / 4k 120 are literally the ONLY things the A7siii is better at... and it costs like 2x as much! by the way, how did that ol' tokina 11-16 f2.8 work autofocus wise with the s5ii and the adapter? your shots with that lens looked incredible so wondering if you thought it was snappy + reliable with the sigma?
@minutesback
@minutesback 3 ай бұрын
That’s a good assessment, sounds like you should do a review 👍. It worked great for me, I didn’t have much time with it and I did have a bit of wobble on the side end but that might be fixed with new firmware. Btw I have the older version as, well it was cheaper and I love flares 😇.

Bear in mind I had a sole subject and even my tests of little ole me was a single subject. But in short Lumix said they make third party lens work like native on their system unlike other companies. At least I heard a rep say that on one of their streams. I asked about the G9 II using adapters for EF but as yet there isn’t anything I’m aware of.

Great shots ✅ Good review ✅ Like and Subscribe ✅ Thanks for the video, I got the original s5, I want the II or IIx... just for the autofocus on gimbal situations. I'm a Canon user and I got of red line lenses, I bought another lens adapter, it works ok, I don't know if will work well with continuos autofocus. I hope the new video with the leneses it's coming! Greetings from Uruguay

Continuos focus did work well or as well as the lens is designed to work and how fast it work work on say my R6. The pdaf in general isn’t as good as Sony or Canon maybe 10% down on the competition. But I’ve tried the 50mm 18 nifty 50, 50mm 1.2L, tamron 24-70, canon 70-200 2.8 L , canon 100-300 L 5.6, Tokina 11-16. I would feel happy using these on the MC-21. I just wish the adapter was cheaper 😇. Thanks for you kind words 👍

Between the original S5 and Canon R8, what would you recommend someone whos looking for a video cam for travelling. Thanks!
@minutesback

I wrote I whole piece for you here and then the page lost it! In short I choose the S5 however, I would more recommend the S5 II second hand plus the adapter for EF glass if you have it.

@@minutesback Thanks for the response. The only thing that worried me js the autofocus (especially if i clicked occasionally photos). S5 with kit lens seems a lot better than anything i could get for the same range in canon ecosystem. Used S5II doesn’t seem possible due to scarcity of Lumix cameras in my area
@minutesback
@minutesback 22 күн бұрын
@@laksh.mp4 if auto focus is important I’d go for the canon but if you mostly do video I’d hold out for the S5ii as it is way better the R8. I have the R6 and although it is great the lack of video features can be make or break on project.

Its gonna be for personal use. So I dont wanna spend a lot 😅. For street photos I was wondering if the af would be decent. Anyways, af aint everything and I was doubting S5 for R8. Subbed!

bought Limux S5 Mrk 2 as well but the stabilisation is sucks , it's rubbish ,My Poco F3's stabilization 10 times better than Limux S5 Mrk 2's stabilization. İ Even turn on ibis booster and E- stabilisation but still videos wobbly and shady.Fck it ,So I'm returning it. You ,People praise Lumix S5 İİ alot ,that's the reason I bought it . KZbinrs ,you People do promotional videos for Tech companies.No one should believe what ever you say . İt's very heavy camera.İ comes just one small battery, no battery charger.Andoid phone menu better and faster than Limux S5 İİ menu.

Your Poco F3 is a phone right? If the Poco works for you then that’s great. The Lumix isn’t right for everyone. Just like the Poco isn’t right for everyone. I defo would use that but if is right for your stories then all the best to you.

Try out the new firmware coming 22 april before you sell it (they announce it yesterday), they have done alot for the wobble issue, but you will need to use e-stab, and ibis booster is only for tripod style shots when you not gonna move around, but that you maybe already know =)

I’m with you. I bought and sold the s5ii. Was pretty terrible across all aspects except for photography, where it was quite amazing actually. Video image quality was mushy and fell apart. The long gop codec was so bad, the s5 mark 1 was light years better. No joke
