Perfect diagnosis and video. I junked my 8 year old Panasonic just 1 year ago. The replacement failed the same way after just 18 months! I was ready to buy yet another but searched "Panasonic microwave repair" and found your excellent video. I found 1 micro switch was stuck in the closed position. Listening for the 3 clicks was the ticket, really clever diagnosis tid bit that I am sure comes from experience. Fixed in less than 30 minutes for zero $!!!

Thanks for sharing. How did you fix it...? Unsure if you had an extra switch or just added wd40. TiA

Thanks for the video, same problem here with a pansonic this one had 3 door switchs and it was only the plastic door mech that was worn and sticking so the switches wouldn't get pressed, a bit of lube and all good!!!

You are the man, my grandma was about to drop $150 she doesn't have on a microwave, so I tore hers apart and it was the exact same problem. Order the part on amazon and should be here Tuesday.

Same microwave same problem with one difference. Upon opening the switch I found the spring wasn't in the right place. Pushed it out a little with a flat screwdriver. Now it works again. Mine wasn't burnt out or anything. I think over time the spring in the switch moved enough to stop the switch from working. Great video thank you.

I have a samsung, old and rusty inside, but I absolutely love it. Only two knobs, rotary encoders, one for power other for time. Simple display made of 7 segments, no magic there. I just found another reason to like it. If you open the door while in operation and close it, it takes a second to start over. That means that the switch doesn't take the full power on it, but the confuser triggers the relay.

Would have been straight to the point if the parts discovery would have been left at the end for those interested in that. My kenmore countertop microwave was built in 1998 and just got the same situation as yours with a possible upper (main) switch bad. All functions work except fan and heating.

That's if the "monitor" switch is bad. It puts a direct short across the AC line as a last resort fail safe

I save those limit switches....they can come in handy....arent they all pretty much interchangeable? They are just limit switches

Some are rated at a much lower current for switching logic level voltages. A high current switch sometimes is not good at 5 volts /5 ma. They need the voltage to micro weld the contacts. Some companies make specialty switched just for logic level use.

Could u still have a bad switch even if it’s kicks
@gozillatrade51782 ай бұрын
Yes, I've had them. Overheated switches cause the internals to be out of tolerance. Even when it clicks the plunger trigger point could be off.

Hi man, my microwave sometimes starts buzzing, even if not turned on, just plugged in, what could it be thats making all this noise ?
@norcal7155 жыл бұрын
Standby power transformer I am guessing. That should be the only thing connected until the main power relay is energized. Without having it in front of me it is hard to tell though. Sorry

Constant (moderate) pull and rotation (rocking it) from side to side should eventually release it.

It is just an appliance 20-25 watt bulb located in the magnetron exhaust area. DM me on facebook, twitter or instagram and I can send you a part number.
