Panasonic Needs Bearings | Non-Serviceable Motor | We'll See About That

A greasy bearing is a happy bearing. I’m glad this motor was able to be restored. Just because a machine looks clean and shiny, it doesn’t mean that the bearings have grease in them. I’ve been using a new old stock machine from 1999 for about a year, and the motor bearings seem to be causing the motor to vibrate on the wind down. It is a simple Ametek motor. It will be an easy job.

The Ametek motors in some lower end Panasonics are definitely easier to service, but at least this Panasonic motor seems easier to service compared to the original Panasonic motor design from the 80s, I have a Japanese made motor from my MC-6210 Jet Flo, and it's pretty tedious to tear apart and rebuild.

Excellent work! Those motors can be a pain if you're unfortunate enough to have stuck in screw.

I wonder what this nozzle airflow would be. 🤔

About 70CFM I would think.

I found a old Dirt devil upright in my grandmas closet and it must have been there for years because I turned it on an it was horrible the fan was rubbing on the gaurd and the brush roll was completely seized so I took it apart and the bearings were gone they look like they were found in the ocean so rusted and snapped idk how much moisture got to the machine but it ruined it so I had to junk it I only took the cord off it for another machine I use

Which vacuum company do you engineer at If You Do?

I'm an IT contractor, so I've been at many companies in my lifetime.

Interesting. I’ve always wanted to try out Kirby engineering. Or maybe even manufacturing them. I always learn vacuum details from your videos.
