PANASONIC RX FD80 BOOMBOX UNBOXING AND REPAIR

Just got in this awesome and in pretty good cosmetic condition boombox. I present. to you the Panasonic RX- FD80. This is a smaller boombox from 1986 and looks amazing. Wether the sound quality is good or not is hard to tell. I mean it is after all over 30 years old and I'm sure age isn't doing the sound any favor. So let's unbox and try and repair this boombox.

awesome boombox, and rare, I have one myself, sounds amazing, cassette deck on mine works but no sound at all. gonna have to look into that.

@@TiltedTripodMedia yep, 👍 I got it a few years ago, and love the sound since I got it, and since I’m weird and when I like something I gotta have at least two of anything, specially vintage audio, I got me another one, and this one, it absolutely needs the belts, everything else works, I’m glad that you got everything working in yours

@@grumpyandroid yeah I got most everything working on it as far as the buzzing noise goes I think it’s just something that older technology especially audio equipment is susceptible to because back in the 1980s they didn’t have all the radio interference from Wi-Fi and cell phone towers that causes electrical interference as far as the CD scraping sound, it’s not damaging my CDs, but the scraping noise I was not able to get rid of because I think the door latch just doesn’t close fully. It’s worn out ☹️

@@TiltedTripodMedia well if the buzzing only happens when playing cassette it probably the recording bar, it needs to get deoxited, if you don’t wanna open it again try putting in a blank cassette and hit record and stop several times and test the sound again. For the scraping CDs if the door is ok and not crooked and working properly then it’s probably the round metal plate where the cd sits on, just carefully and slowly pry it out with your finger and test it again, but check it first to make sure it’s not bolted on or something but if you’re ok with it and don’t wanna risk it just leave it like that. Hope this helps, I haven’t actually take mine apart so take this advice lightly.
