I'm from Costa Rica, we love coffee and people that enjoy the experience, it's fun to see people drinking Cafe Chorreado. You should not rush coffee, and as a costarrican I think it's insane to drink coffee standing up, let alone while walking or in the car, I saw that in USA a lot, part of their culture, very interesting to see

America still doesn't have an unofficially, nationally recognized leisure time, like Costa Rica or the UK. If you have a job in the morning, you're not going to wake up an hour earlier just to go to a coffee shop and have a drink. You will find some people who do sit and drink their coffee in coffee shops, but most people take their coffee to-go.

Thanks for making SF your first stop. We're visiting later this year and I'll be all over the coffee scene. I made a list - cheers!

Great video guys! I live in the bay area and all these are my favorites. Also Timeless Coffee recently opened in the East Bay. I believe the co-founder was the head roaster at Sightglass prior.

Any information about Carey Bon's eco drip system. I would love to learn how to build my own. Is there a chance I could be pointed in the right direction.

If you're ever back In the city I highly recommend Andytown Coffee Roasters located in the Sunset District. Really awesome place that's changing the game with their single origin espressos.

For real. That cracked me up. For example, one of the main omissions in this video, Philz. Come on coffee video guy. How do you tour SF coffee without hitting a Philz?

I'm amused by the creation myths from Eileen. There was good coffee in SF prior to 2005 with Ritual and the Linden Blue Bottle (and the now-defunct Cafe Organica). But history is told by the victors, who can claim nobody of any quality existed before them.

Great survey of our local roasters! But to discover the real history of SF coffee, check out our documentary, "The Coffee Wars." Warning: it gets violent.

Actually: • Land 46.87 sq mi (121.4 km2) • Water 185.02 sq mi (479.2 km2) 79.79% The "231sqmi" figure includes all of the water in San Francisco's western border, which extends 30 miles west to the Farallon Islands. Maybe both you and he should have really read the article and understood the statistic you were quoting.
