2:01 I remember CULLEN'S SIGN like this: Cullen starts with a "C", and you can put your hand in the shape of a "C" and it'll go around your belly button. So the sign is around your belly button.

As soon as I heard Cullen's sign, I linked it with Edward.

So our instructors said that with acute pancreatitis, the glucose is not affected: only with chronic pancreatitis. Many of us that watched this video missed those questions on our exam. Just an FYI for students to be sure that you know what your instructors are expecting on nursing exams.

What is the reason for decreased calcium levels with pancreatitis?
@LevelUpRN2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Great question; the exact cause of hypocalcemia in pancreatitis remains unknown. Here is an interesting article about hypocalcemia and pancreatitis! www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4810896/
@syedbatoor6876Ай бұрын
In pancreatitis, especially acute pancreatitis, the release of pancreatic enzymes (like lipase) into the pancreatic tissue and surrounding areas leads to the breakdown of fats into fatty acids. These fatty acids then bind to calcium in the blood, forming insoluble calcium salts in a process called saponification. This lowers the amount of free calcium in the bloodstream, leading to hypocalcemia.
