The success of helping these remarkable and magnificent animals is in a great part to not only the Smithsonian National Zoo but also to zoos throughout America, we've found multiple ways to help a wonderful animal who at one time had an uncertain future, now have a chance at a full recovery and a great future!

They don't bite! Pandas have a huge distaste for flesh and blood. It has more to do with the possibility of catching a foreign bacteria. The mortality rate is high for cubs.

Well, good news from China in a recent conference on Panda Breeding & Research in the city of Cheng Du, the Chinese has announced that in 2019, there were 37 Panda pregnancies which resulted in the birth of 60 Panda babies, but only 57 survive till the day of the announcement. Which he also announced that the number of captive Panda has reached a record of 600. news.cgtn.com/news/2019-11-12/Captive-pandas-rise-to-600-globally-LyINZpDS5W/index.html Since 2017 to now there is a Panda breeding explosion for three consecutive years, 2017 with 58 Panda babies, 2018 with 52 Panda babies and 2019 with 57 Panda babies. Captive Panda went from 397 in 2014 to 600 in 2019, increase by more than 50% in just 5 years. Now the next objective is to increase genetic diversity of the captive Panda population, because the original captive population started from just a few dozens of rescued Panda decades ago, so by releasing a female Panda during the mating season so that she could mate with a wild male Panda and reproduce offspring so to increase the genetic diversity of the captive Panda population. Then there is also the small number of the Qinling Panda subspecies in captivity which is less than 30 and only about 345 wild Qinling Panda in 2014 survey, so there is still a lot of work to be done for Qinling Panda. Another good news, China is now creating one big "Giant Panda National Park" which cover about 27 thousands square kilometres in the beginning, covering in 3 Provinces & will be 3 times bigger than US's Yellowstone Park. www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/2019/05/giant-pandas-national-park-china/ This Park will cover 62 of the 72 current Nature Reserves, it will reduce most human activities in that Park except for the rangers and scientists possibly for ecotourism in the future. They will be creating forested corridors to improve mobility of all wild life from one current Reserve to another, i.e. returning part of the land back to a forest etc. Hopefully, this will increase all wildlife in the park including Giant Panda.

You had no idea a Panda enclosure would be that popular? What planet are you from? They are the cutest, most adorable, most benign, gentle "giant" herbivores on all corners of the planet. They are the hot ticket in any zoo they occupy. You want traffic, they are your gold mine. Don't be daft, CBS.

Pandas are allowed back into the wild once they learn defense and survival. Wild pandas are normally very passive but if they are tought to survive, they can live and adpt better in the wild.
