you can just add drills to the bottom with ejectors to clear the space, but i think that adding suspensions to the rig so it keeps balance over the rail would be a good call

Yeah, I think I am going to build the drills once I have the elevator built so I know what size I need to clear.

Month late on this, so maybe it's already integrated, but I'll comment so I don't forget: 1. Make a rail section with a projector on it. 2. Blueprint that section and load it into the projector. 3. Adjust the offsets so it lines up. 4. Take a new blueprint. If you are keeping the rail section, update its blueprint. Projected projectors should keep the offsets.

Trade factions that sell components will also sell thruster comps from time to time. Besides making ion thrusters, it's the best way I know to make elite tools before leaving the planet.

unfortunately no. unless the inchworm merges with the rail, which wouldn't be very efficient/lagfriendly/something. however the projector COULD project itself for some recursion.

the context pieces are nice, would like if there was more timelapse, or if you had a compilation of timelpase+compilation of context every few episodes (maybe every 10 or 15?), so that the whole timelapse can be watched with less breaks.

As far as commentary goes, I'm more a fan of timelapse interspersed with commentary or vice versa. I tend to find myself skipping through long timelapses. If a whole episode was timelapse I'm not sure how much of it I'd watch unfortunately. I'm just one person though!

Earth like is a good easy start to start learning the game. It will be easier in terms of resources to get power with turbines and use atmospheric thrusters.

Any Time Lapse without the Context will NOT be watched, and is likely to also mean I wouldn't watch any more of the series either. TLDR: Time Lapse must have Context or NO watch.
