Jane, this is what sets you apart from all the others. You do take your time, and you explain so thoroughly, please know how immensely helpful that is to someone learning, like me. Part of learning is reflecting, not just quickly doing/copying what someone else does. You give me that vital opportunity to reflect, understand, prepare, and more with your stellar tutorials. You are providing a generous gift of WHAT a talented artist thinks about and does (the HOW )when creating a painting. I cannot thank you enough for helping me and others to build true skill.

I am very thankful for the longer video's where you slow down and really explain things. I feel I can keep up a little better. I used to rush through paintings just trying to get them done. I just ended up frustrated. Now I dont care if it takes a month to do a painting and that is because of you. I enjoy painting so much more now. I remind myself I am not in a competition with anyone.......its not a race. The quality of my paintings has greatly improved as well. Thank you for that!

I was born and raised in South TX, the same town singer Selena Quintanilla - Perez was from and since I was a little girl, I always associated roses with her, especially red and white ones. And they're also my mothers favorite flower so when I see roses, they make me happy and make me think of the people who had a huge impact on me. I can't wait to try this and gift it to my mother. Thank you Jane, you're the best! xoxo

The most relaxing, soothing voice. I could watch and listen without even thinking of painting. Without doubt the female version of the late, great Bob Ross who my kids used to call uncle Bob. Now we have aunty Jane.

I love your tone. It is so relaxing to watch you work. unlike other artists I viewed, your tutorial is not stressful to watch. You give us viewers time to breath with plenty of insight on what is going on in your mind as you progress through your creation.

It doesn’t matter how long your paintings are, they are beautiful and you’re music, voice and calming techniques along with your tutorials and superb. Take all the time you need. You make me feel like I can accomplish anything by not stressing so much. I have had instructors say that I grip a brush like I would grip a shovel, so it will be a challenge to lighten up on the grip. Thank you.

I just happened across your video today. And when I saw the grid, I thought this isn’t for me. I’ve always just painted what I see. But I look at the beauty of this rose and the colors you chose and knowing nothing in it had white and the values of the colors along with the black canvas, which is one of my favorite things to paint on, and I’m so very impressed and thankful I stayed with you while you painted this rose. Thank you for your honesty and frank feelings about what sometimes is a difficult zen to find. But you did it. And taught us a lot more than just the beauty of painting. God bless.

Love the rose and greatly enjoyed painting it. The grid system just wasn't working for me so I took the pic on a usb the local staples and had it blown up to the size of my canvas (16x20) as an engineering print in black & white - about $2.50. Much easier to trace onto the canvas using black carbon paper first, which I then go over with a chalk (it all gets painted over in the end). Sounds complicated, but I watch Jane's video while doing this, so by the time I'm done with the tracing I know the proportions are perfect and my head is in the right space to launch into painting.

@PaintingwithJane5 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you've given yourself permission to slow down and enjoy the process! I don't think it's worth doing if it's not enjoyable. The grid is pretty simple. You just draw it on with a ruler and then sketch the image in the squares. If you search my videos, I have one where I paint an old truck. I show the entire gridding process in that one. I hope that helps! 💛
