This was more similar to Pt Nikhil Banerjee's approach rather than typical Pt Ravishankar!

Wonderful. Not the typical performance for Western audience. Enjoyed it. Thank you.

Monterey Pop Fest in 1967 got another version of Bhimpalasi when Ravi Shankar was 47 . But this one shows how , with the passage of time , an artist goes deeper so that the rendition becomes more soothing , calm and so on. Here , in mid 1990s , Ravi Shankar was at his seventies ; the very first note evoked the mood and proved that experience values more .

Only a miracle could let anyone record in Soviet Union 5 years after its dissolution ;) I can imagine them recording under tanks and gunfire mid-Moscow...

Deepak Chaudhury was one of his most prominent disciples till he started fading out (or was he gradually faded out, no one knows) before his untimely death. Very sad!

pandit Samaresh Chaudhury was best among his disciples I would say...

RS never cud produce an outstanding disciple like his father in law , Ustad Allaudin . Nor cud Ali Akbar . Only Annapurna Devi gave us Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia.
