Thank you, I'm so glad that lunatics like you take cameras with you when you do these things. I've done a fair bit of work at the mine measuring heavy metals in the mine spoil. I looked at the 1913 map and a section that showed the 5 levels and wondered what it was like inside. Thank you again, only watched the first part. One of the residents close to the mine explored it all extensively when he was a teenager. Did you find a primus stove with a burned saucepan? I would love to see a pic if you saw anything like that. All part of the great oxtail soup disaster he and his mate had at their exploration base camp at 23fm level. They stockpiled food and torch batteries there to allow more time in the mine. He said that after 2 or 3 hours exploring you get cold and hungry. It all went tits up when when the shaft they used from 23fm to 33fm collapsed when they went down for water to make tea. He said that the smell of burned soup filled the mine. He also climbed the Spion Kope ladderway (33fm - 60m) before it got filled with rubbish. What a nutter, just like you lot.

How long was the rope for the first drop? Can't ask too much here and also there's been access issues but reading the 1913 survey... did you drop into the 23fathom level with that entry?? Edit: who had to walk back again to go get the rope :) Was the traverse then ab with the rubber mat edge protector rope in situ. Edit2: silly me.. you did describe it before you started "bottomless" -- must be a long rope to have got down then 😉

We had a 40m which is more than enough to do a pull through off so no one had to go back out for rope.. 2nd pitch rope wasn't in situ on this occasion...

@@undergroundexplorersc9c270 THANK YOU, so 20 m or less, that must be the Francis Lode? on survey it wasn't clear it connected through. Pull through at entry shows commitment!

Yeah I'd say bout 20m dude..to be honest the 1st time we ever did the thru- trip we had to get the rope after,as the second pitch was rigged..this video it wasn't rigged though..gotta love a pull thru trip though, keeps the adrenaline going 😂😂😂

A bit over exaggerated, "Massive stopes" . Try an 8m absiel, guys.
