Panel de pon remake for next Nintendo console, as well as a puzzle league collection & remake of Nintendo puzzle league from the GameCube, released only in Japan. If this happens, lip surely will have her recognition, and maybe Sakurai will make her a fighter for smash 7!!!!!

Two corrections, both pertaining to the DS game: 1. Touch screen controls are not forced. A common criticism at the time was that, while the use of button control was an option, it was remarkably inferior to the precision and speed allowed by touch controls. 2. The Japanese version had four-player multiplayer, just like the GameCube game.

Despite being terrible at puzzle games, I do love this series and am glad to see it get a great coverage of it's history with this video. I truly do hope that Lip and her friends will return someday with an all new Panel De Pon game that properly gets to grace a worldwide audience... a playable spot in Smash for Lip would also be appreciated. There are ways to use the PDP Wired Fight pad on PC or Switch so you can use it to play Puzzle League. Lol.

Another difference I discovered when getting to play PDP on NSO was that the Tetris Attack added an options screen, which includes stuff like a sound test and the much needed "sign" appearance option which adjusts the transparency of those numbers that pop up and obscure the board when you're doing combos. Pokemon Puzzle League doesn't just have a soundtrack made of remixes of anime-exclusive songs, they are English DUB exclusive songs based on all the "2 B A Master" album tracks that would get turned into music videos at the end of episodes. It's the most Western exclusive anime game ever.

Wow! I didn't know you covered this, Jon (and Shesez and Scott)! Awesome work! As a huge Panel de Pon fan since the 90s, I was really happy to hear about all of this in retrospective format. There's actually a deeper story with the Nintendo Puzzle Collection version, which is pretty charming. I believe 'A Little Bit of Puzzle League' is called 'Chotto Panel de Pon' in Japan, even though the title screen suggests otherwise. I knew the localisation of Panel de Pon DS would be botched, so I obtained the Japanese version when it released to be able to play using the Lip theme. You can play local mulitplayer using that theme. Here's to seeing a proper new Panel de Pon with Lip and friends on the Switch!

This video blew my M I N D 🤯 Growing up, my sister and I loved playing Pokémon Puzzle League on the N64! It’s seriously one of the best puzzle games! I also had Pokémon Puzzle Challenge for my GBC growing up and loved playing that too since it was like a portable version of one of my fav games. Up until this morning, I had no idea that those games wouldn’t have existed without Panel de Pon. I’ve never even heard of Panel de Pon up until this morning! I also never understood why in SSBM Kirby turned into that block, but now it all makes sense 😱 Thank you so much for this video! I feel relieved now knowing that if I’m telling somebody about my love for Pokémon Puzzle League and they have no idea wtf game I’m talking about, I could also mention Tetris Attack and Panel de Pon and maybe then they’ll know what I’m talking about 😂 All this time I thought the only way I could play this puzzle game was by playing it on my N64, GBC, or my digital download of Pokémon Puzzle League on my Wii 😭 Literally about to play Panel de Pon on my switch now, and maybe go searching through my apartment to see if I could find my copy of Pokémon Puzzle Challenge, pop it into my GBC, and try that really long and obscure button sequence to see if it works

The fact that most people only watched this video because Scott the Woz is in it and not because they're Panel de Pon fans is sad. I mean, don't get me wrong, Scott is a phenomenal KZbinr, and I love his videos, but Panel de Pon is SUCH an underrated series, and I really hope that all the views this video raked in due to Scott's involvement created some new fans of the series. Again, no disrespect to Scott at all (he's genuinely one of the best content creators on the entire site imo).

"Pokémon Puzzle League is the only Pokémon game [...] to be based on the anime" Um, you're forgetting the first one to do so - Pokémon Yellow Version! It was huge, even came bundled with Game Boy Colors at some stores in the US. And while putting an anime clip on a N64 cartridge was impressive, how about the fact that they took actual sound clips of Ikue Ootani's Pikachu voice and used them in a Game Boy game of only 1MB? Pokémon Pinball would do the same as well.

Hi Jon! Great video! I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but Pokemon Puzzle League actually does have multiplayer versus in the 3D mode! Not only that, but due to the game lagging once players start doing combos it actually slows it down so it's *easier* to get even bigger combos! I remember doing this to the point where the combo was so high it was represented by a "?"! It was actually my preferred multiplayer way to play! Not only that, but it also had a Line clear mode and a Time Attack mode for single player and multiplayer!

This just might be the best puzzle consept out there. It super simple to play for all ages but mastering game and those combos are hard. But when you succes to do good combo is so satisfying. I still need to beat pokemon puzzle league very hard. Maby someday even super hard.

Nintendo is missing out on gobbles of money. Imagine a Pokemon Puzzle League 2 with an online campaign with tournaments galore, a single-player mode with "catch em' all" and badge components, and the ability to build puzzles for others to complete.

Pokemon puzzle league introduced an incredibly harder mode where your opponent does use the garbage barriers to make combos, and defeating Mewtwo is waaaaaay harder than defeating Bowser.

I hope Puzzle League 99 becomes a reality. I loved Tetris Attack on the Super NES and Puzzle League on the Game Boy Advance. If Puzzle League 99 had downloadable skins for the game, I think they should include a Yoshi skin, Panel de Pon skin, Animal Crossing skin and Pokemon skin...

The saddest part about the US missing the Nintendo Puzzle Collection in the US was that it was SUPPOSED to come here! I remember reading an "upcoming games" pamphlet (official, from Nintendo) from Software Etc. back in the day, and it had the Nintendo Puzzle Collection listed for a summer release. Still pissed it never came out.

The Japanese did get a rerelease of the Game Boy version of Yoshi no Panepon on the 3DS but unfortunately not Pokémon de Panepon. We did get a rerelease of the N64 game Pokémon Puzzle League on the Wii U. This all changed for the absolute best as Panel de Pon was rereleased on Switch Online.
