The Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity at Duke University partnered with the Roosevelt Institute and the Brookings Institution’s Richard Reeves for a conference on October 26, 2017 entitled "The Hidden Rules of Race and Dream Hoarders: A Conference Exploring the Historical and Contemporary Landscape of Race, Wealth, and Health Disparities in the United States."
The conference explored the underpinnings of health and wealth disparities in the context of race, looking at issues that go beyond the current national emphasis on the trials of the white working class.

I love listening in. So much knowledge on the panel, I listen and realize that some of my thoughts have been in the minds of others. I went home to a city that had been gentrified. Although it was beautiful, it sparked an anger within me.

Thank you Dr Darity, and distinguished panel for lending your social capital to countenance a conversion for social justice and reform. On the question of strategy, Is it wise to expect that invoking justice as a moral imperative would yield much results in a world that marshals its resources in a comprehensive campaign to render morality obsolete? Can a Nation that is using pubic schools and pubic resources to systematically strip poor children of any expectation of social norms be moved by moral imperatives? In the 50s and 60s perhaps even into the 70s this was a useful and compelling approach_ not nowadays. In former times we can recall this type of public debate that moved a nation to introspection and a race for moral high ground. It has since been moved underground to well endowed think tanks who steadfastly reversed the trend away from those modest advances. We've seen this movie before; question: is this the sequel or do we have an alternate ending?

I don't think you can deal with Stratification Economics amicably, without addressing historical economic and human resource crimes that led to the wealth strata of a society. In essence, Stratification Economics lends itself to the history of Labor Economics. Since capitalism does begin with identity fraud and land grabbing, then proceeds to human trafficking and coercive labor, ultimately ending up in forced agreements of laboratory, curriculum development and factory control. Added to that, inflation is used by the capitalist to terrorize and strip citizens of their sovereignty

One of many issues with this is as usual the disabled are entirely left out, despite that we are persecuted as much and perhaps more than any minority.

On basic math and knowledge. It is easily disproved that inequality is due to race alone ignoring the fact that inequity it a reality of life and would be even if race was homogeneous world wide.

America chooses its winners and losers. Think about it, in 1877 America chose to be a white-tocracy instead of a true democracy. Blacks were finally given political recognition due to the civil rights act of 1964. Other groups were given more favorable conditions along with hard work which allowed them to prosper. Blacks paved the way for other groups because we were denied access. That denied access created opportunity for other groups to prosper.

Except the white families in Durham who aren't homeowners saw none of that money so all this talk of whites getting wealthy isn't entirely accurate. Some are sure but hardly all, and those that aren't are forgotten, as apparently only people of colour don't own homes in this county....
