Fog Over Tolbiac Bridge came in the mail today and I immediately began reading it. Thank you for the recommendation. It's fantastic and I feel like Tardi is a bit of a kindred sprirt.

Great collection. Tardi is one of my favourites. “It Was The War of The Trenches” is one of the first ones I read and dearly loved. Own all of his books.

It Was the War of the Trenches and Goddamn This War! are my favorite Tardi books. He's an amazing storyteller.

As to the war-themed books: there's a new Tardi-book out (at least in German) in which Tardi drew the war-memories of his father. At first glance in the bookshop the concept seemed a bit "mouse"-like. And it was quite expensive (about 35€) so that I didn't buy it - at least for now.

Fantastic!!! Do you have anything by Enki Bilal?
@earlgrey8628 жыл бұрын
yes, the politfictions he did with Pierre Christin... liked it a lot at the time, but I think the topic is a bit aged today, I guess, I have it to read it again someday.

thank you for sharing some Tardi. I LOVE all of the collaborative Noir Crime comics that he did from the writing of Manchette or Leo Malet. Do you think that they will release more translated Tardi Crime comics in the future? He is truly a Genius. I recommend that his fans purchase STREETS OF PARIS, STREETS OF MURDER.

haven't heard of new plans, but I think it's inevitable that they'll have to put out his whole catalogoue in English sooner or later

Comment #8 For the ww1 book do you mean the one called "it was the warr of the trenches" ? Hier Selbst seems like an interesting story, if it is still in print I will get it.
@earlgrey8628 жыл бұрын
yes, I guess it's called "the war of the trenches", but I guess Tardi did some more... anyhow if you're not too much into the history of the world wars I would rather recommend his crime books or Adele or -yes- "Hier selbst", the latter esp. if you have a good sense for the absurd.

Wow I really like his art:) it super exciting for me when I see those black lines being so precise. Not an easy task. Are most of your collection from indy sids or you like superheroes as well?

Bbbbaaaattttmmaaaaaann! by Mr. Morrison & Mr.Snyder, jla & 7soldiers of victory by Grant Morrison, some goofy golden age stuff (from doom patrol to ... yes... batman), animal man, swamp thing, wonder woman..... there are some - at most out of an interest for certain authors (Lemire & yes Morrison) with a slightly alternate take on the superheroe genre - but it is certainly more subsequently & not my main field of interest.

I was wondering what your interest in general was and i understand it:) I just started reading comics recently and i have noticed the shift in taste dramatically. I guess the more i watch your guys videos the more inspiration i get to see more into unconventional titles:)

comments comments comments. what can I say? Great looking books and a great video as usual Mr Grey. There are some hardcover editions of his work that I've seen floating around town that I'll have to save up for now. The only stuff I know is from Cheval Noir (anthology of European artists that Dark Horse comics put out many years ago), they had reprinted 2 Adele stories I think. I'll have to dig them upo again because there was another story in those that I loved, but the artists name escapes me, and I'm pretty sure it will be someone you know.

+azimovist Tardi, child unfriendly? ... Do you live in the bible belt :P ? Is there any chance to see your stuff (child unfriendly or not) on the net?
@azimovist9 жыл бұрын
Yes! I'm from the racist,Bible belt town of concord California.I was raised by a radical,schizophrenic,sociologist,on a steady diet of National Lampoon,Warren Publishing's Errie and Creepy magazines(under Bill Dubai's subversive and prurient editorship)Zap Comics,and most importantly-HEAVY METAL! Gods In Chaos changed my life at 16. My first book is an impossible to get publication "Less than hero",a couple of now out of print Books published by Planet Lar AIT: "Continuity" and "First Moon".Both are attainable on Amazon I think.I've just finished up three graphic novels,two for the reincarnated first comics and one for a new digital comics publisher called "Stella".I'll let you know when the new stuff is released.All of the above have been enjoyable enough projects but the current publishing and readership mentality is very mainstream and middle class in its goal of achieving movie and television status.Also,the patriot act era has made comics very timid on an intellectual ,radical level.As I told you,I'm about to take six months to myself and produce something along the lines of Ranxzerox,Drunna,Gods In Chaos.It's not likely that I will find a publisher with the spleen to back this expressionistic,barbarism,this malefic sensual,proto-revolutionary, paneled political, soft porn ,but as Herzog says: "any works of intrinsic worth will find support eventually." Regardless there is always crowd funding and in the end,no cartoonist worth his metal expects great monetary reward.AND YOU THINK YOU RAMBLE! Thanks for asking. Tschus!
