After being arrested at the illegal strip clubBrendon then served a 3 year prison sentence in an abandoned Guatemala prison where he lost sense of time so wrote a song called "nine in the afternoon". He continued to write songs out of boredom and sheer loss of inspiration. The Guatemalan prison guards got fed up of him singing continuously so released him and he returned to North America with a new album. His new album was big with his fans but brendon did not like it as it brought back too much pain from the Guatemalan prison. This affected his relationship with his other band members which caused them to leave so he wrote an album called "vices and virtues" which truly captured his trials and tribulation of a 3 year sentence in a Guatemalan prison and the mental aftermath. .. The end..

He sang death of a bachelor, this was his choice of song because on that night he got arrested it was the death of him and his lifestyle was like a bachelors. His song was based of his ex wife.
