Okay, that was a good joke and I"ll give you credit for that, but the truth is, this game is more of a "traffic simulator" than a city simulator. Maybe it's living in LA that is coloring my opinion, but traffic in and of itself is barely a factor in a person's reasoning for living in/moving from a city. It pretty much never comes up in real life. But in this game....well, it's the be-all, end-all (provided you have proper health coverage). If your traffic sucks, your people leave. It's a video game, I'm not shaking my tiny fists at the heavens or anything, but it is kinda lame how traffic management is like 75% of the reason your city is successful or not. It's insanely unrealistic.

Good one, but nope. Those are teams of people who know what they are doing. You might think your idea will work better, but it won't. When you see one road getting traffic jam, you are like, if you did this it would be allright. And it would be in that part, but probalby it would jam more places than you can even imagine. Today they have traffic simulations and commuting simmulations thats goes over our imagination. Still people who can screw things up, not making them super humans. But they really do their job well.
@robertt93424 жыл бұрын
Petr Grebeníček . That's mostly true in larger cities where ad hoc planning has resulted in long term problems that definitely needs the help of simulations. Overall, your sentiments are correct.

Great challenge! I got to 12,150 population on this map on my first go (after seeing this video). Couple of tricks: 1) Unpause the game right away 2) Build residential instead of industry at the water on the left because a waterfront is higher land value. 3) Whenever you can, repay your loan and take it out right away to maximise your spending money. 4) Don't bother with windmills and water towers, but invest in coal and pumps right away.

Welcome to Instantcoffeeville! Also 11:03 if you did that with one of those zonable pedestrian boardwalks it's not a bad way to put a little pier/jetty into your city :) My guess when you asked why population wasn't growing so fast, you said this time you used smaller roads than your practice run, so they might have been less 'desirable' for people to move in - but then because you saved so much money you were able to spam down parks and stuff later on which more than made up for it. Just a guess.

Once you press play roads are no longer able to be built deleted or changed, and see how big of a city you can grow from your original planned infrastructure. For added challenge base vanilla with no DLC content, thus challenging you to lose access to many of the tools you like to utilize.

Loved this!! Very fun watch, especially with your profound understanding of CS. Did make me laugh at 22(ish) minutes, when you tried to get "another" loan, but didnt actually have the First 20k loan taken!!! Lol Thanks for the content @biffa

When you try to go faster building a city you just end up going slower

Fun stuff! I don't even play this game, I find it too stressful, but I like to watch you play it to relax. But this challenge seems like it really stressed you out!

Building a city in 30 min? I’m having anxiety just watching this. 😂

Well done! The growth really started to get better in the last 5 minutes of the challenge.

I’m betting Biffa needed something a little stronger than tea to soothe his shattered nerves after this..... coffee????!? 😮

Just a tip if you try again Biffa...dirt roads work fine in the beginning and can easily be upgraded later to paved roads kr even 4 lane tiny roads

Actually, sometimes the trick is to pay back one of the small loans and take it out again right away, to get more money for one specific investment.

Biffa, if you're this shaken up by a gaming challenge in cities - I'd love to see you play an action/fps game or a horror/survival!! "Do I have time to put a roundabout in?" "No Biffa, you're gonna be eaten by zombies!"

Loved watching this, and all the other guys you challenged too! Would be interesting to see how well you all did if you had infinite money and everything unlocked for the full 30 mins! Keep up the good work! 😄

I would. But I don't know how to record. Tip: Try one without dlcs.

Some things to do improve: - take care of the garbage situation sooner (near the end). - take care of the traffic problem at those single connection points. If people are in the traffic jam on the way into the city, they take longer to become residents. (The one-out-of-three-lanes is annoying to see. Maybe just downgrade that road to two lanes, so both are used? Or use the roundabout. - public transport sooner (connecting residential and industry areas). Alternative challenge: get most money in X minutes.

Is the 3x speed same on fast computer, slow computer, Xbox? IMO would make much more sence to time it by game date, for example 42 or 47 years :) Or "here's a saved city, you've just won the elections, let's see how you can improve the city in four years game time" :)

But then you have all the time in the world to think about what you're doing and where's fun in that? :D This is just a silly challenge, who cares who wins as long as we have fun. I hear you though... Maybe it could be a different challenge all together.
@PaulHolland19934 жыл бұрын
On my PS4 the time is slower than Biffa's. after 30 minutes I was abut a year behind his ingame time, without pausing my game.

@@River_X2_ My idea: let's see what you can do in given game time, running at any speed, but NO PAUSING :)

Nice on Biffa!!!!!! How about a 2 hour challenge using mods and assets, your video's are great, I wish they were longer especially as we continue with lockdown and struggling finding things to do.

I'm not a huge detailer so I don't watch a lot of those kind of players, but everyone who does let's play videos tries to make the results pretty and realistic. I'm loving the replies to this challenge because even detailers have to focus on growth instead and it's fun to see how their style evolves because of the shift in focus.

I just did this challenge and got just over 6500 citizens before time ran out. That was intense. I did fail in putting the roundabout in at the entrance (completely spaced the traffic aspect.), so that created a pretty long tailback getting in... Those were precious citizens that had not yet found a home yet!!! Had i done that, i probably could have had a sniff at 10k. Also, making sure the game stays on full speed would have also helped as well.
