Vegas is essentially clinched. Even if the Blues win all four of their remaining games, and they face Dallas and Carolina, Vegas only needs to get 3 points over 5 games. If Vegas can't manage that, I dont even want to see what they'll look like in the first round anyway. Even now, I'm not super optimistic about their chances, but I'm still riding the high from last year. But yes, Caps, Pens, Wings should all be in panic.

​@@esharp48 As of today Vegas is only three points ahead of St Louis. Granted the Blues have the more difficult schedule the remainder of the season, but Vegas has been very leaky defensively lately and matching winning streaks with losing streaks. Hell, they blew a 4-1 lead to Arizona, giving up 6 goals in the third period recently. The Blues did just recently lose to the lowly Sharks, but overall have played stronger the past month even against better teams. I wouldn't count the Blues out just yet.

If Vegas can't get AT LEAST a regulation win and an OT loss against any of Minnesota, Chicago, Colorado, and Anaheim, I think they should literally conceed their spot to St Louis, regardless of how St Louis performs in their last 3 games.

As a Blues fan, I'm not panicked *per se*, but I'm not thrilled about them picking 16th overall. It was definitely clear that they are not a Playoff team this year, but middle of the 1st round picks will largely rely on luck and good scouting to put them in position to return rather than getting to pick at the start of the first round. Nice to watch competitive games now and then, and we know full tear downs don't always work, but would be sad to see the Blues go the way of the 2010's Wild - just good enough to scrape along the middle of the pack, never good enough to make a run, never bad enough to get a true super star in the draft

I promise you no avs fan is jubilant rn. We play the jets vegas and oilers our last three two of them are b2b. If we lose home ice to the jets I don’t think we make it past the first round for a few reasons. 1 mackinnon is the only one it seems that’s putting his heart into winning the cup. 2 jets being underdogs is gonna help them 3 jets play a style of hockey that’s game to counter the Avs. Similar w kings. I assumed management kinda knew this and their philosophy was just we have enough firepower to overthrow our problems giving up 1-2 many goals. The problem is you need an AT LEAST great goaltender to go on a good run. Idk what they think is going to happen when we play a team that might have a bit worse goal scorers but an elite net minder like hellebuyk, igor or even saros. Very much worries me As for landie I think he’ll be back next season not this playoffs and I’m happy about that. Don’t want him coming back too soon. I do worry that he will never be the same as pre injury but I don’t want to get ahead of myself I’ve also realized our standards are extremely high and the team has a lot of pressure on them. This team doesn’t have the massive depth that we had two years ago. Enjoy what you can has been my new mindset

As a Montreal fan this has been an almost perfect season for where we are in the rebuild , almost every Montreal prospect on D has taken steps forward not back, found talent in roy , Florian stepping up in a big way , goaltending depth is now a strength , the top line looks very close to being something special. A line brawl with the Rangers is even better... 😏...Seriously though, Roy did a great job keeping them in it...I'll say it again, if Carolina draws Tampa in the first round, Canes fans (and probably the young team as well) will be on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The NHL's version of Almodovar...Kings?...Totally backed into this thing. A lot of what happens simply depends on matchups. Playoff hockey isn't as much about rote skill as the regular season. It's played much more in the head, which gives certain teams an advantage, and beiles their place in the standings. Tampa and Vegas are cases in point...Let the Chicago - excuse me - Draft Lottery begin!!...

Mr. Guy, or may I call you Hockey? Epic Channel and great episode as always. It is so sad to see how low the Sharks have sunk. I was born and raised in Richmond Hill, but I lived in San Jose for my entire professional career, from about 1988 till about 2018. In the late '90s and early 2000s, the Sharks had fantastic teams, and made the playoffs almost every year. I was a season's ticket holder with a couple of buddies of mine, so I went to many games, where they would announce sell out crowds at every single home game. How far they have fallen... No matter, however, because I moved back to Toronto in 2018, The Leafs are an absolute blast to watch, and so I don't ever have to watch all the suckage out west... Keep up the great work.

Most Avs fans probably not “jubilant” right now but mostly because they set the bar incredibly high going into the 2022 playoffs and expectations have been high ever since. Personally, they’re a team that could get bounced in round 1 or 2 or make the finals. Depends which team shows up as they’ve looked unbeatable and they’ve looked very average. I still have no idea why he didn’t call a timeout during game 7 against SJS for Vegas after the miscall on the 5 min major. He could have stopped the bleeding by calling a timeout or swallowed his pride by not throwing fire to the flames with the refs. Completely lost control in that situation. As much as I would love a bulldog coach behind the bench in Buffalo, Gallant makes me nervous. Who knows, maybe Tuch might make a bid for him.

@@quag311 That’s a part of why he doesn’t have these head coaching positions for longer stretches. He is an excellent coach much of the time. That said..he doesn’t manage those kind of critical moments in games well. And it’s my guess he isn’t great in small talk with his management. He has never embraced analytics..my guess he probably has a good intuitive sense of the game that renders analytics less vital to his approach. Not calling the timeout as it was clearly needed in that Sharks game indeed a huge misstep and the VGK management exacted their measure for it. I do think he has a knack for working with teams in an emerging stage and the results show that. But managements now seem disinclined to hire him. Sort of silly as a playoff appearance after years of none would be good for fanbases: Buffalo Senators Detroit. He brought Florida first playoffs in many years. And he brought Rangers out of their rebuild status. I posted suggestion to hire him on VGK’s newly set up Facebook page in 2017. He did give them a nice start.

Power rankings don’t make sense in the playoffs because it doesn’t matter (for example) how Edmonton is playing relative to Florida in the first round - it only matters how well Edmonton is playing relative to their actual opponent.

Coincidence or destined connections? You have often pointed out how Pittsburgh and Washington are intertwined. Looking at the nervous and uncertain category for the final playoff spot in the East - there they are… and Detroit. I’d say another team often in the mix with these two. The back to back Stanley Cup Finals with Pittsburgh… and a Cup showdown with Washington. I’ll be interested to see which of the three will come out on top.

Arizona isn't panicked. You have to care to have panic. Boston can't be jubilant because regular-season-fatigue, "Sure, amazing record in regular season, but LAST YEAR..." It's illegal to reference a pet and not show on camera.

At no point this year or next will Wild fans be panicked. In a year where we played 14m under the cap, the actual reason why we missed the playoffs was injuries. Nearly every key player went down and some for way too long to be able to recover. Wild shouldn't be good and are, if anything we're overperforming and fans got a way better season than we expected. Pretty happy fanbase from start to finish.

I’d say we’d be a little better off if we had more consistency in net. Doesn’t help that our defense is struggling (mainly injuries to spurg/Jimmy). Good thing Goose is gone after Thursday. Now just need to trade Merill for a bag of pucks.

If there’s one thing about the Jets whiteout, it’s that I wish they’d figure out a way to have the team wear the whites at home. Like if the road team is wearing white and all the fans are wearing white, they probably think that’s who everyone is cheering for, which explains the record

As a Flames fan I am not in panic mode. I trust Conroy's process. He has to fix alot of the holes that Treliving dug the team into and I think the team is in a better place this year then last year.

Agreed. Even Huberdeau is looking happy and producing these days. Coming from an Oilers fan, the sooner the better. Name Alberta "Death Valley" again, like the 80's.

As a Wings fan I’m happy with the team, I was expecting a team that could compete for a playoff spot and that’s what we got, with a few changes they can make the push over the line and they’re a young team with plenty of potential

As a Wings fan, I am no longer panicked and would say I’m happy overall with how the season has gone, playoffs or not. I’ve accepted whatever result may come with the confidence that the team will learn and grow from the experience of playing meaningful games in April.

@@jacobfolkringa8676 the losing streak was in the middle of Larkin’s injury and the flu swept through the locker room. Wings are a good team with a bright future. Can’t wait!
