lol you got the redwings yzerplan doubters perfectly. I see so many people in the comments of different videos like “Yzerman is a fraud. He just got lucky in Tampa and the yzerplan is a failure.” He hasn’t made every contract perfect or every move perfect but the wings were horrible when he took over. We are still paying on a contract from before he was GM of the wings. We had nothing and no farm trying to keep the playoff streak alive. We have one of the best prospect pools and some very good players. I’m not willing to call this a failure yet

I'd be willing to call it a failure absolutely. Yzerman has gone off the board way too many times, and none of them have really paid off aside from Seider. Nate Danielson is a 3rd line center at best, Marco Kasper over Matthew Savoie is as baffling as ever, and drafted an alleged starter in Sebastian Cossa only to then draft Trey Augustine 2 years later is not going to end well for the Wings. Hell I'd even say picking Michael Brandsegg-Nygard over Cole Eiserman is not something the Wings should have done, they needed goal scoring so they pass on a guy who went goal per game in the USHL? And that's just the drafting, not to mention trading for Jeff Petry who sucks, giving 4 million dollars to a 7th D in Justin Holl, giving Ben Chiarot anything over 2 million isn't smart either. Also not to mention trading a valuable defensive defenseman in Jake Walman to the Sharks and the fact they have 4 NHL back-ups to try and fight for 2 spots is not good. Montreal suffered greatly because they had a 3-goalie system last year, I can't imagine Detroit making it work with 4 goalies.

The Sabres are closer to the number of years that the Bills' missed the playoffs this century than most care to admit and seem to be no closer to getting out of it. Every bright point gets snuffed out the season after it emerges, if not during that same season. But yeah, I agree with the original commenter here. I don't trust this team and haven't looked forward to an NHL season in over a decade at this point. I still follow the sport and this team because they've been a part of my life quite literally since birth thanks to my dad.

Habs land won't panic for a slow start, but there might be some anger and pointed questions if the infirmary get crowded again. That cannot happen a third year in a row without some talk of the GM building a weak team prone to injury. Especially if it keep happening to players Kent Hughes traded for.

Carolina is middle of the board unless it is the league worst start or there is something like a season-threatening injury. The Canes always have an extended road trip in October so being under .500 isn't a big deal for them. Their goal isn't the President's Trophy. While no fanbase should take making the playoffs for granted, a slow start for Carolina won't be any reason to panic.

@@maxfish4270 as a Canes fan, I am worried about this specific season. However, I have less expectations this season. Fans of teams want to have their cake and eat it too. I'd like to win a Stanley Cup every season, that's the goal of a season. I also don't think that not winning a Stanley cup makes you a bad team. I don't believe 31 out of 32 teams suck every year. I think we'll have a fine season if we make it to the second round again I'll consider it a success and I hope we'll go farther. TLDR: I agree with you.

Howdy! Thanks, as always, for your videos. As a long time Kings fan, I may be an outlier, but I won't feel any panic with a slow start. I love our young talent, I don't know how long we can ride Kopitar - but I don't think we are a contender until we get a Goalie that hates losing. I mean hates it like Quick did. I don't see that in Copley - maybe Rittich? IDK - and Kuemper? Well, I didn't think CO could win with him in net, but they played exceptionally well defensively in front of him. I was genuinely awed. Anyhow, I guess when you've been watching a team since the triple crown line, you relax a little ;) P.S. Oilers fans and media will be freaking out with a slow start if it goes beyond the first dozen or so, imo.

I would swap Jets and Devils into the top row and Sens and Kings down a row. Otherwise I pretty much agree with everything. I think there's 2 ways to think about this that makes things interesting and very different. The board is obviously based on what happens based on the TEAM having a slow start, record-wise. BUT, there's also the thought based on if certain INDIVIDUALS have slow starts, which can give some extra discussion for the teams at the bottom. No one cares if Chicago has a slow start, but if BEDARD has a slow start, then you definitely start seeing some uh, hot takes online let's say. You did KIND of touch on this with Ottawa, which is why as a team I'd rank them one lower, but Ullmark SPECIFICALLY definitely puts them higher. One other point I'd say about Utah, maaaaaybe moving them up one level, is there is the tiniest bit of pressure to start well to kinda sell the future of hockey in Utah to a new fanbase.

St Louis: whether we call it a rebuild or not, we are in one. The fact that management have bought contracts from multiple (good) older players while letting our top prospects (Snuggerud, Bolduc, Dean, Dvorsky, Stenberg, Lindstein) stay in their developmental leagues means we are rebuilding. Neighbours looks great right now, but we are quickly advancing on PIT as the older team in the league, but: without a superstar. Once Snuggy and the two Zachs’ come in next year, we we will start competing again for a cup in a like three years time.

If Winnipeg can play the defensive game they've been playing despite losing Bowness, they'll have another great season. Who knows about the playoffs, but if they choke in the first round again many fans will forget the fun hockey they watched in the regular season and write the whole thing off again. Not me, though. As a Seattle fan depending on how the slow start plays out would determine how much panic there is. If Montour and Stephenson look bad, then there’s going to be a lot of panic given the contracts, if they look good then we won’t be happy but we’ll be looking at how the young players are developing.

With Nashville I feel like that is the right spot, but I could also see them being one tier lower. We saw last year the entire team got off to a slow start transitioning into the game Bruno wants them playing and with the number of changes I wouldn't be suprised to see a slow start, but it needs to end earlier than it did last year. If Nashville starts 3-5-1 there won't be much panic. If that becomes something like 5-9-2, then we have a problem. I think there will be a lot of calls regarding the age of the team and fans will go crazy because they have wanted more young guys playing for a while and an extended slow start will cause people to have severe buyers remorse.

This is a team that has done nothing for a quarter century, and a team with a lot of really poor contracts. We've had one glimpse of hope. Excited for the Waddell and Evason signings. I think Washington should be a row higher. If Dubois gets off to a slow start, it'll be really rough. If Lindgren looks like a backup, and regresses from last year, it'll be rough. If Ovechkin gets off to a slow start and looks his age, it will be rough. I think Chychrun, Roy, and Thompson will be given more of a grace period to settle in. But there will definitely be panic if Dubois, Lindgren, and/or Ovechkin start off poorly.

I laugh at all the Winnipeg nay-sayers. A year ago, all the pundits and "experts" were calling for a complete tear-down and rebuild. Only to see the Jets finish the season 4th overall. The team is essentially the same, with the deletion of some dead wood. Now, the young kids need to step it up, but the team remains solid.

I really don't think Carolina should be under panic if they start slow. The part of the fan base that is tuned into what has happened over the off-season, should be expecting a drop-off at least at the beginning of the season. I think the front office and the coaching staff has signaled that we lost some huge pieces, if fans aren't paying attention to that, it's their fault.
