LYRICS
They’re looking right at you
From the posters in your room
They’re the song that you sing
When you don’t believe a thing
They’re the hope, they’re the prayer
When no one else is there
A little dreamer in the glow of the receiver
Every song he played was alright
Blew out the speakers dancing in his sneakers
Every move he made was alright
Swinging on a beam of light
Catch a star before it dies
What a perfect night to fly away
Goodbye to Vegas, there was nothing left to save us
So we drove away, it’s alright
Jumped in the sprinter, touring through the winter
Every show we played was alright
Singing out our life on stage
High enough to feel no pain
What a perfect day to fly away
Well I don’t really know what I know
But I’ll show you everything that I can show you tonight
And I don’t know where we’re going but it’s going alright
It’s alright
It’s alright
God killed rock ’n’ roll
God killed rock ’n’ roll
No blood on the stage, no Plant no Paige
Kiss ‘em all goodbye
God killed rock ’n’ roll
God killed rock ’n’ roll
No fist through the glass, no backstage pass
(‘Cos god killed rock)
(God killed rock ’n’ roll)
God killed rock ’n’ roll
God killed rock ’n’ roll
Your Buddy Holly glasses and your plaster casters
Kiss ‘em all goodbye
God killed rock ’n’ roll
God killed rock ’n’ roll
Your leather slacks and your hi watt stacks
(‘Cos god killed rock)
(God killed rock ’n’ roll)
They’re looking right at you
From the posters in your room
They’re the song that you sing
When you don’t believe a thing
They’re the hope, they’re the prayer
When no one else is there
They rock your mom
They rock your dad
(God killed rock ’n’ roll)
On the bus after the show
Staring down a lonely road
Everybody needs a place to go

one thing about Brendon, he did his way. no matter what was popular or what everyone else was doing, he made the music he wanted to make and made it with passion. thank you Brendon for always being interesting

Listening to this now, especially given his 'retirement', you can tell Brendon used this album in order to do everything HE wanted. In interviews, he always talked about a dream of writing his own bohemian rhapsody. This is HIS moment.

This song (and album) is a real gift to people who have begged for this kind of sound from a modern artist. I can't get enough of it: the Brian May guitar sound, harmonizing, piano, changing time signatures, and very strong vocals.

Urie has his tongue firmly planted in his cheek with this baby. An obvious tribute to Queen replete with literal Bohemian piano flair and Brian May-esque guitar. Even using 3 seperate musical stages (that don't repeat, albiet the last 20 seconds) to unfurl the tune, just like Queen used to do. Bravo!

I noticed that each song references iconic music from over the years. From Queen to Musicals (Grease). To me, the album screams an ode to his inspirations.

I love this song, lol I didn't even know it was even coming out yet lol anyways I love it so much and lol the funny thing is that in the beginning of the song when it said “They're looking right at you in a poster in their room” I was actually looking at my poster of him... Lol
