Watch us pan for gold for the first time! We are at the creek that runs through our property. This is not an educational video 😂

I noticed your pans are new and hydrophobic. Meaning they still have the oil residue on them. Turn them upside down on a pile of sand and spin them back and forth to get the oil off them and get small scratches in them. Always love seeing new peeps enjoy the hobby! God bless you

I loved the pop up imoj.. listening to the water running sounded so nice. There's a lot of water in the stream.. I loved the little speck of gold you guys found. That is exciting. That's a fun family thing to do . Thank you for sending this to me.. 😊

a few suggestions: Clean and scruff the pans. I can see the water beading up in them, as they use oil in the manufacturing. Sand is not usually the best place to look. Try behind boulders on inside corners, and look for heavy gravels on the inside corners. Gold is very heavy and will drop out well before the sand. I notice where you first panned, there looked to be bedrock on the other side of the creek with gravels. That would be a good spot. Gold luck to you!

Thanks for sharing and you guys are so lucky having your own creek - I would be there every day!! My advice (for what it's worth!) - after you shake the pan try letting the water wash the sand off the top rather than shaking it out (tip the pan forward and lift). Soak - tip forward - shake - lift ... repeat. Have fun! Greetings from the UK. :o)

Now that was fun!!! And they did find gold!!! You need to season those pans. Scrub with Ajax and a scouring pad to put micro scratches in to hold gold better. You also have to get all the forming oils off the plastic, When my daughter was 2 she would set in the creek edge and get pretty rocks and put in her plastic beach bucket. She was too little to be a Rock Hound so we had her a shirt made that said "Pebble Puppy" ;)

Also your pans look brand new. You need to rub them up abit with grit or sand paper to take that shine off the pan its very slick and you will definitely be losing gold. The pan needs to be rough to help stop the gold on the rougher surface

Thank you!! You're right, they're brand new pans. We'll sand them for next time. That was our 1st time ever so we definitely sucked, lol, but it was fun and we've already tried again and found a bit more! Gonna keep practicing, my oldest is really into panning so I see many fun years ahead!

@quackersplatfarm great it's a real fun hobbie. If ur interested and want to learn more about panning try watching vo-gus prospecting. He's in Australia but has many informational Videos on how to pan and where to pan for the beginner all the way up to the seasoned Pro. Hope this is helpful to you and wish u heavy pans 👍⚒️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I season my pans with sos pads. give em a good scrubbing. the steel wool scratches em up good and the soap removes any traces of mold release used in manufacturing try not to swirl the pans as it spreads out the gold, just go side to side with a slight tilt forward. And when you wash out the pan dip it in the water to make like an ocean wave type effect. Good luck and happy hunting. you will improve how you pan as you go. I would suggest that you watch some gold panning videos.Dan Hurd Prospecting is a good channel to see how he pans. If you have black sand then you should have more gold than just a little spec. A good video though. I am hoping to be back to catch a few more soon.
