I remember when I was 12 years old I would always play this video walking home from school through the woods. It gives me nostalgia just thinking about it. The vivid yellow rays from the sun would pierce through the lush green canopy as the trees would sway in the warm wind. As I would take in the visuals i'd play this video on repeat on my iPhone 4 listening to that subtle vocal harmony and piercing guitar riff as if I was addicted to it. This song always made me feel happy to be free from school and now it only fills me with pure N O S T A L G I A. I'm 18 now, in a college hundreds of miles from those beautiful woods stressed as can be but still vibing to this video on my iPhone 7. Funny how some things never change. Here is my relationship with this song: it was stuck in my head so I decided to try to look it up online, but I did not know the name of artist. So, like a normal person, I tried looking it up based on the lyrics, which I really heard the first line of and, even that, I heard indistinctly. Three hours I spent looking for a song futilely with the lines "when you feel the waves crashing through your face", which you can laugh at me for. In desperation I tried to recall where I knew the song from and after several long and exhausting hours of looking through the soundtracks of every movie I had watched in the last month or so, my brain decided to function leading to the revelation that yes, the song was from Fight Club and my life was saved. It also turned out that I had superimposed another song entirely onto this one from a completely unrelated band and had mixed the lyrics up. So finally after something like four or five hours, I am here. Rewarded by a great song, and the unfortunate revelation that I have no idea what the other song that I was splicing with this one is, no guarantee I even have the lyrics right and the knowledge that I will search in vain for hours on end because I can't even get the tune right. Though, again, wonderful song and worth the hours it took to track down.
