A neat trick I learned was to cut out a small hole in a card and place it over the color you are trying to match and one over your test color. You will be able to tell infinitesimally small differences in tone and value. It can be very frustrating if you are a perfectionist because you would be amazed at how off you are when you thought you had a good match but it's very effective and reassuring that you can know it's right.

Thanks! I’m frustrated with KZbin for not showing the longer videos. It’s happening to the other artists I follow. I noticed that KZbin also changed my notifications to personalized from all. I turned it back to all and am now seeing everything. Maybe that has happened to others.

Has anyone ever successfully fixed a pan pastel that was broken into little chunks and dust? I have several that I received that way and stupid me didn't open the package they were in until the return window expired.

I received a partially shattered pan so I put the part that was broken in a different container and one day pressed it really hard into an empty shadow pan. It's not as firm but it works
