He is quite right. Tesla stated that science would make much more advances if it studied the non-physical. Was nice to see Sheldrake take up that challenge despite opposition.

I remember when I first went out into the world on my own barely 18. I was so disoriented in a big city from growing up in a small town. I had anxiety to the point of a couple of panic attacks. A co-worker at the job I found asked me out to play floor hockey. As soon as I had the stick in my hand and started running around stickhandling and passing the ball doing something I was good at and had done all my life. My mental health improved 100% almost immediately. I was operating on reflexes and living in the moment. I will never forget that experience. Rupert is absolutely right. God bless him.

I am thankful that Prof Sheldrake is willing to speak his truth. It enables non-scientists, like me, to conclude they are not simply "ignorant" if they do not agree with mechanistic materialism but have come to think, through experience, that animism makes sense.

There is a whole chapter on gratitude in Rupert's book (Science and Spiritual Practices) - so you are spot-on! Gratitude - according to Rupert - has been scientifically proven to be THE MOST significant factor in determining personal happiness.

A true holistic mind. For real civilisation to happen we need the time to do these things. To get to this point we need: 1. Free food for all 2. Free housing for all 3. Free medicine for all 4. Free education for all 5. A global duty to look after the old These steps will give us the freedom from societal slavery to find the values and spirituality mentioned above.

I love him and his books, and when he started talking in this video I thought he was talking about my unwritten book :D(I have talked about sports, learning from animals, etc as spiritual practices for a long time)However, when he talks about default mode network, I think he is not right where he says DMN is active when we have the chattering mind, anxiety, and depression. Actually, DMN is activated when we are daydreaming and is associated with creativity. In conditions such as anxiety and depression DMN is altered or does not have it's natural synchronized pattern.

Spiritually is necessary if science is to progress. No one says it better than scientific historical romance author Alan Lightman. Checkout his thoughts on recasting. Science and religion. Recasting a clever choice of wording.

LindaF, I've seen a video by Rupert called "Rediscovering God", with Britain being a Christian country so I assume he believes in Christianity like myself as well as saying at the end not doing something on Sunday (Sabbath Day). Not all spiritual practices are religious, like I do Tai Chi as well as Christian spiritual practices. Concerning the purpose of nature and the process of evolution is possibly life. As we're changing the environment by things like climate change all living things are evolving with it, so I see evolution as a process of all life remaining unified. Just by looking at nature on this earth we can see all nature requires nature for survival.

I'm 74, I have no idea why anyone would need to have his mind opened up. Do some people get brought up in a cardboard box or something? Eg, Eckhart Tolle. 🤔 not impressed. Sorry, but it's just a nonsense to me.
