It's such a blessing to be able to move away from organized religion and its dogma into a deep spiritual discovery of self and our place in the larger "collective consciousness." No more ancient folklore beliefs, no pressure to force your mind into contradictory and often harsh and cruel dogma - only a continuing, genuine discovery about what's real and lasting in our deeper awareness and our personal connection to God.

I think it's less about having a religious belief and more about the positive moods and feelings associated with acts like praying, feeling associated with an acceptable world view and feeling apart of something good that is larger than oneself. Those with hateful belief systems might pray for bad things, and give into more modes of thought and emotion that induce stress onto the physiological, stress causes lives to be shorter and people to become more aggressive and undeniably less happy.
@ShadaeBalancesKnightAstro2 жыл бұрын
William I absolutely love what you’ve written here. I struggled for years with religious belief and it wasn’t until about 35 years of age that things began clicking for me. I realized that religion is about serving an external dual God/Devil which man uses as as a fear tactic. Feeling ever condemned is not empowering imo. Spirituality is about realizing that the creator is within all and requires cultivation through discipline. These disciplines are different for everyone however thankfully I’ve discovered what’s best for me. Your comment really put a smile on my face, thank you for sharing your lovely insights 😊

But why do think that we as humans naturally gravitate towards a good, religious belief and why is it that stress and evil is taxing on life. Why don't we live in a world where good causes shorter lifespans? Why might the universe be created in that way?

Why are the parameters for the universe such that we see? And why are they so favourable for the development of religion
@rodschmidt89526 ай бұрын
@@alinaqirizvi1441 You've equated stress with evil. We might just as well equate stress with conflict, which requires both good AND evil. In your final question you jump to a conclusion; I think you're basically assuming what you want to prove. I think at a minimum you want to prove something, which is a hazardous approach to seeking the truth because you've already decided what you want the truth to be and then if it turns out that the truth is something else then it will be very difficult for you to see it.

If you've ever been curious about who you truly are, then this is something that you NEED to see...
@LucidDreamr4634 жыл бұрын
If you hold anger or disbelief toward spiritual practice, well that just allows a clear understanding for me, because this, whether you know this yourself or not, tells me that you are solely curious. You deep down know that you want such a beautiful thing to be true, but on the surface you think that it’s too good to be true. Scientific breakthroughs have time and time again gotten us closer to proving these beliefs, which is grand, but science aside, the truth is, not everyone can understand these things. Not everyone can understand even modern physics, but, everyone can believe, and it is simply that which we need. Because the truth is, it all starts with a belief, a spark of hope for the light, something that science has dampened so horribly, because the surface is all that the average scientific mind can explain. And when that is all people see, that is all people believe.
@chaoticneutral75734 жыл бұрын
I agree that some spiritual practices have scientific background like meditation or stretching yoga but spirituality is also full of mysticism and metaphysics like One Consciousness, karma, rebirth or spiritual vibration. One of personaly infuriating things is some spiritual gurus say that they spiritual world view ( yogic philosophy for example ) is more supperior then modern science or they misuse scientific terms to explain they jumbo limbo spiritual mysticism. Yes science is not perfect system of knowledge but it proves more then any religious belief.

I find it funny that scientific orthodoxy automatically categories spirituality or phenomena that can't be easily tested as magic or superstition, but was fine with suddenly having to admit that 95% of what holds the universe together is missing and suddenly classed as dark matter.. and they have no problem believing in that.
@Sinnbad212 жыл бұрын
Your little rant is a bit dishonest. “They have no problem believing in that…[Dark Matter]” First, it’s mostly Dark Energy that scientists claim the universe is compromised of. Not DM: 67% Dark Energy 28% Dark Matter 5% Matter Second, they (scientists) “have no problem believing that” because they can actually test it via galaxy clusters and then use simple math from there to find averages. That quickly tells you that a certain percent of the Net Energy/Density of the universe is made up of matter (about 5%). Whatever number is left over, is the percentage of that universe that ISN’T made of normal baryonic matter (95%) Next you measure how fast galaxies are spinning. It turns out they are spinning way too fast. Much much faster than they should be without the outer stars and gas all getting thrown out and ejected into the vastness of space. Gravity isn’t strong enough to hold down things at that speed. Well, you can calculate how much faster it’s going vs. the speed it’s supposed to be rotating. That answer will tell you that there’s obviously some “hidden gravity” or something similar out there that we have yet to discover. This is what we call Dark Matter. Lastly, the universe should be slowing down the speed at which it’s expanding. But it’s not. It’s actually getting faster and this is absolutely fucking with every scientist in the world because it’s a complete mystery as to why it’s speeding up. It’s as if there is some growing field or force that we can’t detect at all and is very pervasive all throughout the entirety of the universe causing it to expand. They call this “Dark Energy” So, again, Dark Energy and Matter make up the remaining 95% of the universe that regular matter doesn’t. And with some more math they can figure out approx how much of each (which I listed above)

I am somebody who doesn't believe in Gods, angels or ghosts. I also understand that being positive is very beneficial for your mind. If you can create a healthy, focused mind through meditation like I do, it's important that the meditation has no boundaries for it to be pure.. Believing in the supernatural can't possibly allow you to be one with your surroundings if you are part of a creation that suggests restrictions. You are as much a constant in this universe as the stars and galaxies that have tried to fill it. If you're reading this, know that we are one

Elaborate on death , it will be a scary part for you since your spiritual side won't die
@DrStoned13 жыл бұрын
Well, my spiritual side will die with me obviously. It's our mind, our brain that gives us spirituality. When we get goose bumps while listening to a certain song, feel emotional when watching a certain movie, feel anger when we see somebody being mistreated, be in absolute awe of an incredible piece of artwork or the comforting thought of having a creator who is watching over us. I believe everybody can be spiritual without the need for religion, because that's what I think it is, 'A need'. It can be very difficult for most to come to terms with the idea that we will one day no longer exist. That's normal.. But try and remember what it was like before you were born. We have more experience being dead than alive. So grab this rare opportunity and be the best example of you

The paradoxical equivalence/inequality between rational understanding and the awareness of deep meaning expresses an autonomous and self-perpetuating means of creation, and it is from this struggle and disequilibrium that our awareness is generated. Memory and meaning persist in the contradictory condition of necessarily being in balance, yet fundamentally unable to be so, and it is from this paradoxical state that existence explodes into being. In other words, the meaning why existence exists, or why any phenomenal entity arises at all, must, yet cannot, perfectly correlate with the reason how it exists, and this is, as far as I can tell, the fundamental truth underlying the notion of all causality. I discuss a similar topic on my channel.

All "spiritual practice" is oriented toward material goals as all thought or mental activity exists as a type of fine matter related to a personal craving, it is material. What you call spirit cannot be known or experienced, certainly no mental practice or technique can reveal spirit to the mind or experiencing apparatus. Meditation is a fixation on some ideal or aspect of the mind (like gratitude or happiness) and this fixation to make these impermanent ideals permanent has ultimately poor effects on the health and puts a false sense of spiritual enlightenment when it is literally impossible to use a thought to stop thought, you are only kept in the loop of a thought which divides you from spirit. So, science cannot reveal or say a single thing at all about spirit, nor can any words or knowledge.
