Much love. Colour means nothing when it comes to music or life. I love metal and the golden era of hip-hop music and I'm white. But even if you liked One Direction it means nothing. You should feel welcome everywhere you go. If I saw you at a Pantera concert we'd be headbanging to one of the best metal bands of all time. My bro saw them many times and said he had nothing but respect for anyone that were there. Even if they fought in the mosh pits. Like Nas said ''Not for popularity reasons, but for the love of the art''

I was at a Pantera show in 1997 here in Texas ( I still have the ticket stub with Machine Head and Coal Chamber) and was aggressive as hell.. it was definitely step in or step away because these guys did not fuck around.. there was always a sense of "if you are half assed about us, go to a a safe spot." Anyway, I came out with 2 broken fingers and a broken nose.... It was insane and a good time... RIP Darrell and Vinny, my Texas bros. and I will see you guys on the other side!!! It is always very very painful to see a Pantera reaction because of what eventually happened... Phil broke and Darrell was murdered on stage in a brutal fashion... he did not deserve to go like that.. Vinny is gone and we will never see the like them again... definitely I will always feel a profound sadness for these guys... I visited Darrell's gravesite a couple of times and that is tough as hell!

Crazy, I saw them with Anthrax and Coal Chamber in Dallas. We came in during Coal Chambers set and a dude was being rolled out of the pit on a stretcher. Anthrax played caught in a Mosh and the gates dividing the pit from the people in the stands broke open. When Pantera came out people started throwing flaming shirts and setting off fireworks in the pit. I had some friends that saw them play with White Zombie and Type O Negative at Reunion arena(basketball and hockey venue). He said they were ripping up the wood planks that covered the ice and were setting them on fire and using them to crowd surf on. They also had to pay for damages to every venue they played in, which I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if it totaled in the millions by time they called it quits.

I saw Pantera when I was in 7th grade( was a 18 over show but I was kind of a drum "prodigy" as a kid and knew the venue manager because I had opened for other bands there. It was wild. Had the best seat in the house , front row of balcony right next to the stage. Hit a joint and had a beer , thought I was hardcore. That show and Slipknot (in 99) changed my life.

The founding members, 'Dimebag' Darrel and Vinnie Abbott, are unfortunately no longer with us, but vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Robert 'Rex' Brown are still out there. Phil's current band, Philip Anselmo and the Illegals, are playing Pantera set on tour right now. I was lucky enough to see them live twice, last time on the Reinventing the Steele tour in Dallas with Soulfly and Morbid Angel. Like you see in the clip, they were pure energy live. I actually met Vinnie and Dime at a after party following a Rob Zombie concert in Dallas. Two of the coolest most humble people in the world. I won't lie, I cried my eyes out when Dime died, the wold lost a lot when he was taken from us.

I saw Pantera live 9 times. They had no equal to the amount of energy that they exude. The shows themselves were electric (in many ways), and the songs would take on a whole new level when you were standing there beholding them. The pits were a lot more mellow than some people remember, if you fell over (which I did many times), people will and would go out of their way to make sure that you got back onto your feet; perhaps as a way of saying "i'll knock you out, but only if you are standing on your feet." I had a huge guy (probably 6'4"+ and 300 lbs.) pick up me (5'7" 150 lbs.) and swing me around by my head in the pit. When he put me back down, he laughed at me, because I didn't miss a beat and kept on moshing. He screamed loudly, "Go get 'em, Little Man!!" and I did. That was at Ozz Fest at Polaris Amphitheater in Columbus, Ohio, the first reunion of Black Sabbath with Ozzy. There was a riot when Ozzy didn't perform (he had laryngitis), and the crowd rioted. There were riot police, helicopters, the crowd set the pavilion on fire, they flipped a car, they destroyed a few shop booths, and tore down the wall in the back..... good times. I brought a piece of the wall home as a keepsake. That was just 1 of the shows, and I will never forget it. R.I.P. Abbot brothers, you are missed.

Pantera, neurosis and biohazard. In Buffalo around 1997-1998. What a show. They closed the set with planet caravan. Pantera was THE BEST metal band. They shredded harder than anyone else, they partied harder than anyone else and they were 50X more humble than anyone else. Dime was and is THE epitome of what a heavy metal guitarist should be. He could play anything and he would play anything to perfection. Vinny, what more can you say about Vinny? Rex held it all together and Phil? That dude was the frontman of the 90’s. Nobody could ever match his intensity or his wit. He was very much in touch with the crowd and demanded a lot from patrons of a Pantera show! RIP Vin and Dime for the world is much more boring without the Abbott brothers.

In the early 90’s, specially in the clubs, some bands can turn the whole experience up to 11, but Pantera turned it up to 30 ! Nothing you could fully describe. You’d definitely have to experience, and survive ! Nobody could shut down these over occupied clubs, in fear of a riot, and the oxygen levels were even low, making it hard to breathe since everyone in the club being physical, took up more oxygen, and it wasn’t replaced quick enough. Imagine at least half a dozen people stage diving at any one time. It was that “ ultimate party band “ that propelled them to rock god status.

@@jayray6488 eyehategod's a whole other level from Crowbar though, as far as shock value to new listeners. Crowbar's super Sludgy, but the grooves are tasty as fuck & actually really palatable for those unaccustomed to skull-fuckingly heavy music. Imo they're the ultimate starter band for Sludge. eyehategod is..well, eyehategod. :p Still a great listen, but WAY more abrasive, & 5x as likely to turn off virgin ears. It's like the difference between Metallica & Slayer.

I saw them at my first Monsters of Rock festival at Donnington U.K. back in '94 along with Therapy?, The Wildhearts, Terrorvision, Skin, Sepultura, Zakk Wylde's band Pride & Glory, Headswim, Extreme, Cry of Love, Biohazard (where there was a mass stage invasion & the plug got pulled!) & headliners Aerosmith. At one point I was crowd surfing while wearing a stars & stripes inflatable American football helmet. people were throwing all kinds of stuff, like bottles of piss, but when Pantera came on people started throwing joints onto the stage like some kind of mass offering, later I threw my Pantera T-shirt up on stage & Phil, the singer caught it, showed it off, laid it over the moniter, then later threw it back into the crowd where the moshpit turned into a pack of wolves, tearing it apart trying to claim it, or at least get a piece. Fucking amazing day!

Brother, This is hands down by far my favorite song. The riff, the way the vocals are tracked. Just pure fuckin adrenaline for me. Plus 92 to 94 Vulgar and Driven era was the best years of my life. I miss this band so much. Its a Damn shame Phil wasted so much time with whatever he was up to and. A billion times more a waste Dime being murdered on stage. ROCK ON DUDE......Play this song late at night in your car with the windows down and the volume high as it goes. Adds like a whole nother gear and 100hp to your car.

Update: It was just announced Pantera front man Philip Anselmo will be supporting SLAYER on their farwell tour with a *FULL SET OF PANTERA* songs. This is everyones opportunity to hear Pantera songs performed live by the singer for the first time in *EIGHTEEN YEARS* i haven't missed a tour by Anselmo in two decades. Ive heard Phil play 3 total Pantera songs in that time. *THIS IS RARE.* Go, have fun!!!

@@TheAdventuresofTNT I am serious. The tour is in November. Tickets go on sale *Friday.* Philip H Anselmo & The Illegals is his band. They will be opening the concert. So if u go, do *NOT* arrive late. I was fortunate to see Pantera live a few times. This certainly will *NOT* be the same. It *will* be a great tribute to the band and all their achievements. Slayer opened for Phil & Pantera on their final tour in 2001. Now, 18 years later Philip Anselmo will open for Slayer on their final tour. I highly recommend anyone even remotely interested in Pantera or Slayer music go to this tour. Especially if u didnt see Pantera.

I saw them back in 97. My friend got his nose broken in the pit! I was lucky and managed to not break anything lol. He had the biggest grin on his face walking up to me with blood running down his face I was like dude, your nose!!! I took him over to the rest room so he could see it and wash off. We got back and he ran back into another pit! It was a great experience!!!

mosh pits were a healthy and therapeutical form of violence that had an unspoken code of conduct. you hit and get hit but you knew it wasn't ever personal. pantera pits were in a league of their own though. the ferocity and severity was intimidating to say the least. in their 3rd home video 3 watch it go theres a short part where a black kid with a visibly broken nose says " broken nooose with panteraaa in chicagooo" in all smiles. it was such a great unmatched release that you had no choice but to come out happy and floating from all you left behind in the pit.

I was 17 when I saw them @ Ozzfest 2000. Just, the best. Better than the album versions; their live show was off the hook. I remember a knock-down-drag-out type fight broke out in front of me; these two dudes were beating the shit out of each other. They eventually got dragged away by security all bloody and shit. After the song was over Phil did not hesitate to keep the peace saying that "This hear is about love and family and we don't need to be fightin' and shit, it don't belong here. So shut that shit down right now, you can get crazy without hurtin' one another" One of the best shows ever. Pantera forever. \,,/ \,,/

Their pit was insane. I remember seeing them on ozzfest 2000. I was standing on the lawn by the barricades. When they hit the stage people in the grass tore the barricades down and rushed the the seating area to get to the pit. If you have ever scene the trailer for world war z. The rush of zombies running at you. That's what it looked like. They played a great set. Godsmack had to follow that. And fans it the grass were throwing chunks of grass into the pavilion. They threatened to walk off stage. if they didnt stop throwing the grass. They played as well. Good night over all

Had the pleasure to see Pantera once in Sweden (we didn't get them very often over here) in 2000 when they did the Reinventing the Steel tour and it was just... Wow... So incredible. Phil was a mess because of his drug abuse. But it was it was one of the greatest shows I've been to regardless. Pit? There wasn't a pit. The entire audience was bouncing up and down and head banging. But I guess the whole venue was one giant mosh.
