Track 2 from the 1988 album, Power Metal.
LYRICS:
You say you want it loud, I'll never turn it down.
You want to feel my power pound you in the ground.
I want to give you fury, blow your head apart.
I'll leave you comatose from the very start.
You say you want some Metal.
I'll give you all I've got.
My deadly grasp is lethal.
This force will never stop.
Power Metal!
Rock forever!
Power Metal!
On forever!
I am the metal beast, the battle dog I deal.
My soul was spawned in hell, my body coiled steel.
Put on this earth to melt it down to the core.
I'll make you feel such pain, you're coming back for more.
You say you want some Metal.
I'll give you all I've got.
My deadly grasp is lethal.
This force will never stop.
Power Metal!
Rock forever!
Power Metal!
On forever!
Let's go!
You say you want some Metal.
I'll give you all I've got.
My deadly grasp is lethal.
This force will never stop.
Power Metal!
Rock forever!
Power Metal!
On forever!
Power! (x3)
Alright! (x3)
I'll take the power metal.

How is this considered Glam Metal again? It's like Judas Priest meets Iron Maiden with Anselmo's vocals. I wish this album was recognized more. Sure, there are some cheesy parts thrown in, but this album riffs ultra hard. In my opinion this would have easily been Pantera's real debut. This is a highly underrated classic.

thrash and trad metal purists get so butthurt when someone mentions glam like, go fucking cry about it so what it turns out a band you like were into glam/hair/shred metal and incorporated a lot of those elements into their music, sabbath did it, judas priest did it, saxon did it, pantera did it too as well as many others, just suck it up or do one, a lot of people are too closed minded to really enjoy music

Damn I really have to find a physical copy of this. FBD is my favorite Pantera album hands down, but I come back to this kn youtube every few weeks, and damn it I can not get enough. Dimebag is just an absolute Treasure to listen to as always, Anselmo's almost Dickinson/Halford/King Diamond style vocals just slay it too although I think his lower repertoire is much more suitable, and definitely more aggressive. Rex crushes it too, but I think overall this album highlights where they were as well were headed. Rex especially though plays well on this, but when you think of it not only does he throw down tasty bass harmonies, and grooves he also was a key compositional component of Pantera helping to lay down rhythm guitars, amd what not. Friggin Ace.

Very close to Riot’s ‘Thundersteel’ or some Racer X…But with a thrash edge, in the vein of Overkill.

No. All Pantera did was stop the mainstream from forgetting that metal existed. The underground metal scenes (where metal's strength has arguably lain for decades) were going as strongly as ever, and would have done so without them.

Fun fact: If you listen to any Pantera song here on YT that's from 90's or later, everyone says: Those early records were so gay blah blah blah If you listen to any Pantera song here on YT that's from Power Metal or earlier, everyone says: This is SOOO much better than the groove shit music they did in the 90's blah blah blah. I say: I love the way Pantera evolved, no record is like the other and my mind is open enough to enjoy both the heavy metal days and the thrash/groove days. Fuck me, some people are closeminded AS FUCK. Enjoy some music from some talanted people and stfu already! :D

They really should re-release their old stuff as a compilation. I think Pantera's name as a commercial entity is enough for it to sell, and alot of fans will be curious to their back-catalogue.

After all these years I finally understand why this album was pushed at the wayside; Once the band released CFH, they realized they had a heavy record on their hands and wanted to pursue that instead. I still love this album and Pantera have been playing these songs as late as 92/93 during their Vulgar tour. You can even find a live video of them playing PST 88 from that era.
