about 3yrs ago, I took teh seat of my summit openshot, took the cross supports from the platform and had them welded to the seat frame. Basically ended up just like this one without the neck to attach to. But I was surprised for years that I hadn't seen a manufacturer really come out with something like that. They seem like a great option.

I cut a lone wolf platform in half years ago and had something like this but without the post and strap. It worked pretty well. This one is better but same basic idea . I have videos on cutting the stand in half hahaha

This is something that has been needed since saddle hunting became popular. To me it's the final piece of the puzzle to be extremely mobile. I bought one and its great!

Cam strap should be above the climber cable when locking stand to tree.

Leave one end of locking strap on the post when you come down. No need to take it completely off until on ground. Then I wrap and tie it around the post so it’s always available.

I think the aider is kinda pointelss..whats one pull up of your legs? Just extra mess in the way imo but, this is a cool idea

I researched all the climbing platform offerings for the last couple months. In the process I contacted Panther Creek. I was concerned about the tree size limitation or what I perceived to be a limitation. The response I received was; you probably wont be satisfied with our stand so I suggest you look elsewhere. Thats when I looked closer at the Osprey Lean Ascent Alpha. I've now had it a week and hunted with it three times. Each time I get more comfortable and higher. The only draw back is it's (probably) manufactured somewhere in Asia. Nowhere on the box its shipped in states USA made. I was texting back and forth with the owner asking about another concern. and ask him directly where they were manufactured and he didn't respond.

Wow I’m surprised that said that about their stand. As far as the other guy, yeah sounds like it’s not made in the USA. One thing I’ve experienced in this industry is that there are a lot of guys who will say anything to sell their product and not be particularly ethical about the way they run their business. I’m not saying that guy fits that model but if he’s advertising made in USA and it’s not, that’s not right.

Looks like a really good option Sean. I was wondering last year if it were feasible to take the lower part of that climber you gave me and use it the same way. I never got around to trying it, but the platform would be huge to stand on while in the saddle if it worked, lol! 👍

Great review as always. I have two concerns about the product. If you slide down to get below the platform to put the strap on to cam it down it seems it would be very difficult to climb back on top of the platform. -I’m sure there’s a way to get around the limb, but it would take some acrobatics to do so.

The ladder aider on the front makes it pretty easy to get back into it. Yes it does take some work to get around a limb. You do need to be a bit agile for that.

It's to bad for me that that hole setup is as much as a high end climber tree stand, that I use. This hole set up for an older guy as me would be great! Should be a lot lighter to carrie in and out of the woods!

For me if i am going to climb a tree like with a climber bottom i would just use my climbing stand. Most WMA's i hunt you can get to spots from different roads so a climber is not a big deal to carry in and use. I use my saddle when the tree i want to hunt doesn't have a good tree in right location to hunt it.

You should always tether the platform to your body in some way, there will be a time it will slip off your boots and down the tree

Can you just use the bottom part of a climber for a platform or is there something special about this?

You could. This would be lighter than a full climber platform. This also straps to the tree so it won’t budge whereas a climber platform has the potential of slipping out from under you if bumped the wrong way unless you do something extra to strap it to the tree. I cut a platform in half in the past which created something like this platform.

Where i hunt is mostly Aspen and Spruce. ( cotton wood sparsely distributed over the place in no great quantity ) anybody ever tried a saddle stand on an aspen?

I like this platform a lot but I can not justify spending that much on one. It is a platform. I bought the large Millenium Hangon treestand, also a Summit Ultra Viper lightweight Climbing treestand as options and didn't spend anywhere near that much. And that has way less material in it. I bought a nice new Lattitude Saddle but platforms are way overpriced for any of them.

I literally was just going to comment but wanted to scroll to see if anyone else thought the same. for that price, I'm buying a full climber. I'll stick with my climbing sticks. $150-$175 would've gotten me more interested. Neat idea but too pricey. Thanks Sean! Always good content.

Please know that eventually you will lose that stand under your feet and it will fall to the base of the tree. I would have it tied in or better yet use a repel line.

Never felt comfortable climbing trees. Just a pain in the ass and just dangerous. Been very successful ground hunting. Too each their own

Seems like an awesome setup but for the life of me i cant see how they justify the prices of these...its less than half the size of any two piece climber and twice the cost. I guess your paying for light weight and convenience. Profits must be good for these.

You have to factor in that this is a small company and probably a lot of labor cost, the larger the company the more you can streamline and buy in larger quantities to help drive down the cost, or have it made in china.
